Trend 2: Live Streaming• Live streaming on social media channels is growing in popularity. Meerkat led the

way, followed quickly by Twitter’s Periscope. Recently, Facebook has joined in the live streaming market by releasing Mentions to the public. In fact, within the first nine months of Periscope being launched, 15 percent of the top brands on Twitter were regularly posting on the app.

• By being able to live stream from mobile directly to an audience, brands such as Nissan are using it for sneak peeks into exclusive events; Taco Bell used it to help launch their breakfast menu; and JCPenny used it in tandem with Eva Longoria to launch a new product.

Trend 3: Social Influencers• With the rise of social networking, and especially Instagram and YouTube, we’re

seeing influencers drive significant engagement for brands. Building relationships with these social influencers allows brands to reach much larger, and potentially niche, audiences.

• According to the Huffington Post, “The authenticity and trust that influencers have built with followers gives them the credibility of a friend or family member, which in turn gives your brand credibility.”

Trend 4: The Rise of LinkedIn• Over the last few years, LinkedIn has grown

from being a social network for professionals posting resumes to an impactful tactic for content marketing.

• In 2015, 66 percent of marketers planned on increasing their use of LinkedIn. This is especially true with B2B marketers, where they planned on increasing their use of LinkedIn by 80 percent.

• According to LinkedIn, 99 percent of the top brands on the site regularly share updates on their Company Page, and 73 percent of these brands are utilizing Sponsored Updates.

• One study showed that LinkedIn is responsible for more than 80 percent of a business’s social media leads.
