NICK KALISMY STORY

I started racing for a lifestyle change. Working in hospitality and cafes, you can quickly develop bad lifestyle choices and habits. I used to work extremely late nights and after having my daughter Christie, I wanted to change my late night hours and shenanigans for something that I thought was safer – TIME ATTACK RACING! What started off as my daily driver taking my daughter to school, then became a “weekend warrior” at the Track! Which later EVOLVED (pun intended) into a fully sick race machine that I call my pride and joy today. After practicing flat out to improve my driving with all the non stop modifications to Evangeline, I started climbing up the ladder and BOOM, won Superlap at my 3rd attempt which has now become the INFAMOUS WORLD TIME ATTACK.This is the event where Teams and Drivers come form all parts of the Globe to compete and Sydney Motorsport Park once a year and is very well known in countries like USA and Japan, who actually invented Time Attack Racing.I plan on continuing this form of direct adrenaline injection and entering half dozen or so events during the year in order to peak at World Time Attack in October 2014.

QUESTIONS

What do you do away from racing? Work in my cafe and talk about racing quite a lot when I’m not doing it!Do you get nervous before a race? Yes I always have butterflies and nerves especially before an important race meet. That never goes away and help to keep me safe SAFE and FAST as I’m in FIGHT and FLIGHT mode! If that feeling ever goes then thats when its time to retire!Do you watch Top Gear + do you like it: I love watching TOP GEAR equally for the great sledging that goes on between the guys as much as I love watching all the games and ideas they come up with. Just when you think what else can they possibly do, you see them being chased and shot at in a 4WD by an army tank or fighter jet!If you had to choose another sport or interest to invest all your time in, what would that be? Thats quite a hard one as I used to play a bit of ten pin bowling and golf (please don’t tell anyone) but gave that all away for racing against the clock!Meat pie or sausage roll? Pie for a main and sausage roll for dessert.Best place in Australia to visit: The Queen Victoria BuildingYour last $100 would be spent on: iTunes

DAN FARQUHARMY STORY

I started attending track days in my previous car (EVO 7) about 6 years ago. From the first day, I was addicted. I did as many track days and driver training days as I could. From there I progressed into competing in the NSW SuperSprint series and various other Time Attack events in my current car (EVO 8MR). From the very start, the car has been meticulously built and maintained by the team at IS Motor Racing, with support from Royal Purple. There’s always more modifications and adjustments to do to the car to make it faster, and this year will be no exception. The car will remain in Clubsprint Class, with the objective of winning every major Time Attack event this year.

QUESTIONS:

What do you do away from racing? Work.... Just work. I have to pay for the addiction somehow!Do you get nervous before a race? Sometimes, it depends how close the competition is. What would be your advice for someone wanting to kick off a racing career? If you enjoy it, why not? Practice, get as much help, advice and instruction you can.Do you watch Top Gear + do you like it: Yes, I love it. Doesn’t everyone? If you had to choose another sport or interest to invest all your time in, what would that be? Probably shooting or hunting. I love my guns.Meat pie or sausage roll? Meat Pie, with sauce.Best place in Australia to visit: Port DouglasYour last $100 would be spent on: On Black at the Casino to try and double it.

CHRIS TIQUIMY STORY

I’ve always been into cars since I was a kid, so it was a natural progression once I got my license that I wanted to go racing. The philosophy behind the build of the car was a “Daily driven track warrior”. It still has the full interior, stereo and A/C! Indy from IS Motor Racing and I focused on smart modifications to achieve a well-balanced vehicle that gets driven to the track, raced and driven home! All this can’t be achieved without a great team who are just as passionate about racing. I would like to thank again Royal Purple, IS Motor Racing, Hankook, Competition Clutch, Spoolin Up and Auto Technik for supporting the car. Lets take out the NSW Supersprint Championship for 2014 and bring on WTAC 2014!

JASON NAIDOOMY STORY

As a youngster the need for speed was genetically imprinted in me, just not originally automobiles. I come from a family of track and sports stars. My uncle ran the 100m sprint internationally hence my interest in short distance track racing. I was a very accomplished sprinter here and in South Africa.Cars where always of interest to me, originally drag racing in my younger years and then progressing to circuit. The Mitsubishi Evo community in Australia really propelled my involvement in motorsport. What started as fun track days led to State Championship and now to an International spectacle like WTAC. I have used the same determination I did as a youngster in my 100m sprinting days.Racing on a tight budget really made me appreciate achievement. Loyal sponsors like Royal Purple have stood by me from day one and that is a real motivator!

GARTH WALDENMY STORY

My father has always been involved in motorsport and I followed suit, starting off in Go-Karts at age six. It snowballed from there has been part of my life every single day since. I am/have been involved in many different motorsport categories - V8 Supercars, Radicals, Productions Sports, Enduros, and WTAC to name a few. I am definitely a bit of a chameleon when it comes to the race cars I drive - anything from a Porsche or a Lotus, to a Mosler, a Nascar and even all the way down to a Daihatsu Charade! As long as I’m driving, I’m happy.Working with and driving for Tilton Interiors Racing really reinforces to me why I love motorsport so much. I could not ask for a better team and sponsors, they embody the true meaning of all things racing. We are currently mapping out our future plans for the Evo, and looking at the capabilities of the car to compete at international events such as Pikes Peak. But of course we will be back at WTAC 2014 to defend our title!
