    TONGWYNLAIS MEETING

Issues raised at Tongwynlais Meeting with residents on 27th

    Feb 2013 arranged by Julie

Morgan AM and Councillors Chris Davis, David Grove, Jonathan Evans and Ben Thomas

    1. Buses

What will happen to 26A that goes to Asda and Catherine Drive? (Subsidised by Cardiff).

Request for Stagecoach 136 to be re-routed through village. Many people in Tongwynlais

have family and friends in Pentyrch. At present goes via Whitchurch and A470.

Query re: bus pass for young people.

    2. Landnext to Village Hall, Merthyr Road

Concern expressed about any possible housing development. Meeting united that this

should be opposed. However it was felt this bit of land was unlikely to get planning

permission for houses because of pipes and drainage underground. Some discussion about a

possible community recreation project. Decided to wait for planning application to go in

    before organising any opposition.

    3. Homeless People

Concern about some homeless people sleeping rough in subways at Coryton and in local bus

shelters. Agreed to be followed up with homeless officers.

    4. General Tidiness of the Village

Request for more litter bins, and that they should be emptied regularly. Concern about

rubbish in lane near Castell Coch.

    5.Dog Mess

Complaints about dog mess and need to ensure people became responsible for their

animals. The bags to put dog mess in should be available in the village.

    6. Trees

Need to inspect a number of trees on Greenmeadow, which were considered dangerous.

    7. Car Parking

Concern expressed about cars parking all day in main street of village, blocking shoppers

    cars.

Agreed that these issues would be followed up and there will be an update and a further

meeting held later in the year.

Many thanks to the 40 residents who attended.
