Epic Guitar (Volume 1)Produced by Troels Folmann and Mike Peaslee.

    TONEHAMMER EPIC GUITAR V. 1

We worked with session guitar genius Danne Forsblom from Sweden to capture a widerange of brutal, stellar metal guitar riffs with his custom 6, 7 and 8 string guitars. Thislibrary specifically focuses on delivering an earth-shaking fist-full of metal, hard rock andhard funk. We can only share with you a tiny slice of what Danne is capable of, so weencourage you to contact him if you're in need of custom material beyond the scope ofour Epic Guitar library. He can be reached by e-mail, at [email protected]

There are a total of 1,984 individual looping phrases included in this library, comprised of161 different collections of riffs - each with multiple elements, including verses, bridges, choruses and alternates, allowing for vast possibilities for layering, stacking, mixing, matching and endless recombination. We covered the primary tempo ranges of 80, 90,100, 110, 120, 130 and 140 and have included accurate and automatic host-temposynchronizing programs to allow for any precise bmp in between. In addition, all phrasesare standard PCM wav format, for easy manual integration into any standard audio hostsequencer, editor or sampler.

    INSTALLATION

We Use Winrar (version 3.80 or later) or other compatible

    program to un-compress the tonehammer_Epic Guitar.rar

file into its own folder in your sample library directory. Make

sure to preserve the included folder structure. This is usually

done by selecting the extract to'... option in Winrar or

    UnrarX.

Heres a link to winrar for PC:http://www.win-rar.com/download.htmlHeres a link to UnRarX for OSX:http://www.unrarx.com/

You should now be able to open and play the .nki files. Beaware that all of our .nki files are compatible with full retailversions of Kontakt 2 (version 2.2.4 or later), Kontakt 3 orKontakt 4 only.

Note: The Free Kontakt Player and any bundled KontaktPlayers that come included with DAW software, hardware orother sample libraries won't be able to load this library.

The included EXS patches can be loaded in Apple Logic and avariety of other compatible samplers and virtual instruments. Please read your host, sampler or virtual instrument ownersmanual to verify exs24 format compatibility.

EXS format instrument patches can be located in the EXSsubfolder, contained within the core subdirectories of thisproduct. You may need to install this library in a specificlocation on your hard drive when using some sequencers orvirtual instruments, such as Logics EXS24 sampler, in orderfor the it to recognize and locate the library contentproperly. Please read your host, sampler or virtual instrumentowners manual to determine where you may need to installthis library to insure proper functionality.

Since our wave directories are open, you can translate thepatches into whatever format you like. There are a fewconversion utilities available that can make the translationprocess much easier, such as as CDXtract andChickensystems Translator. Just make sure you don't sharethe converted library with others. Each user must purchasetheir own copy of this instrument from Tonehammer.

    PITCH-CONTROL KEY-SWITCHING

All Kontakt and EXS24 versions of each instrument allowyou to control the root pitch of each note by up to +/- 3

semitones. This is done by using our key-switches. Pressingdifferent key switches will enable the sample to play back atdifferent pitches. The instrument should load with theoriginal root pitch of each sample enabled. Or, to manuallyactivate the default root pitch, just press C0.

The key-switch range covers white keys from G-1 (-3 halfsteps) and up to F0 (+3 half steps). You can easily layersamples using multiple pitches by holding down the sustainpedal (cc64) as you play the sample keys, while alsoactivating different key switches. These are the pitchcontrol key-switches you can use:

    G -1 = -3 semitones

    A -1 = -2 semitonesB -1 = -1 semitonesC 0 = DEFAULT PITCHD 0 = +1 semitonesE 0 = +2 semitonesF 0 = +3 semitones

As these features can be resource intensive and may exposecode bugs in recent versions of Kontakt, some users may wishto skip some of these features in order to enjoy greatersystem performance ans stability. Weve provided dfd disk-streaming versions of each instrument patch for yourconvenience. You can find them in the dfd sub-folder, in theKontakt instrument directory.

    EXS24 PATCHES

This library includes Logic EXS24 sampler format versions ofmost of the library's core sample banks. The time-stretchingand sample offset functionality isnt featured, along with otherplayability enhancements, but basic features like key-switchpitch control are included. These patches are included as aconvenience only. Primary support is limited to Kontakt formost features and functionality. However, the wavs can still beused manually in any sampler or sequencer.

    GENERAL CONTENT / PROGRAM TYPES

All Kontakt instruments feature root-pitch key-switching,allowing you to shift the root pitch of each loop up or downby up to +/- 3 semitones. In the non-DFD versions of eachinstrument, the pitch can be adjusted without effecting the

playback speed / tempo. Most of them also include modwheellayer mixing, allowing you to dial in the amount of quad-channel-enriched body and power that you need. There are 5instrument categories:

Host-SynchThese instruments include all of the advanced automationfeatures, including automatic synchronization to host-tempo,dual-layer mixing on the modwheel and root-pitch shiftingwith key-switches. Not compatible with Kontakt 2.Vowel-WahThis set of instruments includes a special vowel-filter "wah-wah" effect tied to the pitch-wheel, allowing for expressivetone shaping. They also feature host-synching, modwheel layermix control and root-pitch shifting with key-switches. Notcompatible with Kontakt 2.

Single-LayerEach one of these instruments has been broken into twoindependent sub-patches (layer A and B), allowing for custommixing, routing and independent signal-chain control foreffects. Includes host tempo-synch, modwheel volume controland root-pitch shifting with key-switches. Not compatiblewith Kontakt 2.

Time-StretchThese Kontakt 2 compatible instruments allow classicTimemachine 2 time-stretching control on the pitch-wheel,allowing for raw phrase length and tempo shaping. These don'tsynch to host tempo, but they are very malleable, withmodwheel layer mix control and root-pitch shifting with key-switches.

DFDThese Kontakt 2 compatible instruments use resource-efficient disk streaming for times when more advancedfeatures aren't needed or memory needs to be conserved. They feature modwheel layer mix control and root-pitchshifting with key-switches.

    TONE

    HAMMEREpicGuitar Special notes

Please be advised that there are three major known

Kontakt-related bugs to be aware of with several of the

patches in this library. Theyre specific problems within

the code base of each version of Kontakt. However, they

can usually be corrected by the end user. Our

    tonemachine (harmonization) and timemachine (time-

stretching) patches are often the most effected by theseKontakt engine code bugs, while our standard percussion

patches are unlikely to have any issues at all. in any version

of Kontakt. Also, please be aware that many instrument

patches are extremely ram/cpu and harddisk-streaming

    resource intensive.

    Notes to Kontakt 4 users:

Large sample sets may load slowly. The cause is not

known, but this problem is present when loading a variety

of different libraries from a variety of developers.

    Notes to Kontakt 3.5 users:

You may experience popping and clicking due to a bug inthe way the Tonemachine and Timemachine featuresrespond to the automation ranges used in thesepatches. This can sometimes be fixed by manuallyadjusting the speed control, but theres no full solutionavailable at this time. Kontakt 3.5 is still currently too newand buggy to definitively say all of our instruments are

compatible with it. We recommend sticking with Kontakt2 or 3, at least until version 3.5 has improved.

    Notes to Kontakt 2.2 users:

After loading any of these patches, you may need to moveyour mod wheel by a small amount in order to activatevolume and tone control automation on the modwheel.Once you've done that, the instruments should playnormally. This problem is likely due to a bug in the waythat Kontakt 2 handles volume envelope automation.Kontakt 2 users may also get an audio pop, followed byfull audio drop-out, after if they open some patches using

the tonehmachine feature into an empty Kontakt

window, especially after another patch has been opened

and then closed. This generally wont occur if the patch is

the first one loaded into a new instance of Kontakt or if

another instrument is also already loaded into the

Kontkat window. If a drop-out has occurred, close the

instance of Kontakt and re-load it.
