Introduction

The term Tomcat sting is actually incorrect. Tomcat does not sting or bite. Tomcat body touches on the human body is enough to make toxic effects. Tomcat includes strains of beetle family of insects. Or more precisely beetle also called Ants “Semai”.

This beetle has a size less than 1 cm. Yellow body, dark in the head, and tail. Middle of the abdomen is dark green has pair of hard wings. Typically, the region appears crawling around, hiding the wing and look more like ants.

If disturbed, it will increase the portion of the stomach looks like a scorpion beetle to scare the enemy. There is fluid in Tomcat’s body that 12 times more powerful than cobra venom though. Haemolymph fluids or toxins referred to as "aederin".

How to cope Tomcat’s venom

Tomcat will automatically release toxic fluid when in contact or collide with human skin. Tomcat will also discharge the toxin on items such as clothing, towels, or other objects. That's why, if exposed bed linens, towels and equipment poisoned tomcat should be allegedly washed. If it has been exposed to Tomcat toxins, for first aid immediately wash / rinse with clean water and soap.

If it comes in contact with Tomcat:1. Immediately wash the affected area with soap and water.2. Severe skin reaction to get better medical care.3. Make sure the insects are no longer in bed and close all the windows

when the evening.4. Materials such as antiseptic solution of potassium permanganate

(KMnO4) can be used for washing.5. Antiseptic mixed with a low strength steroid cream can reduce

injuries. If it appears as a speck of red spots, rub the ointment on the skin immediately with Hydrocortisone 1% / betametasone with neomycin sulfate 3 times a day.

6. Do not let the wounds were still wet in the sun, because it can cause black scars is hard to be removed.

Tomcat always appear in the lightAll insects have a role in disease transmission, including

Tomcat. This insect has toxins that can cause skin reactions. These insects are found in gardens or fields and usually only causes a reaction in the skin. In contrast to other insects such as centipedes, toxins can cause paralysis due to strike a nerve, if exposed to insect venom is then immediately cleaned and given anti-allergy medications such as hydrocortisone ointment or betamethasone so the reaction is not excessive. Body's reaction to Tomcat poison in someone is different between each other, there is no light weight.

Tomcat often arise when the day before the night, at the time people turn on the lights.

Tomcat has a Latin name of Paederus riparius, Named Tomcat as a cursory look at the insect's impression pictured as the USA Tomcat fighter. These insects live in humid areas and generally will follow the light of the lamp, eating animals such as fleas and beetles pests of rice. Tomcat will remove toxins from the body or in contact with human skin. This poison will cause itching and also cause thermal injury to the skin.

Haemolymph fluid in the body (except the wings) these animals have the potential harmful toxins. The toxin is referred to as 'aederin': (C24 H43 O9 N) was identified in 1953.

Tomcat will automatically release the liquid in the event of a collision with a touch of human skin. Can be touched indirectly through towels, clothing or other equipment contaminated by tomcat poisonous. That's why, if hit by automatic dermatitis such as sheets, towels and equipment exposed to toxic tomcat should allegedly be washed.

Tomcat is actually useful to repel pests, leafhoppers are prey Tomcat. Tomcat not actually hostile to humans. So, maybe there is human activity that interferes with Tomcat. In the cities of Jakarta and Surabaya, Tomcat insects usually live in areas that have trees or plants such as city parks. Tomcat fly with the body "standing", not slumping. The wings do not cover the entire body, unlike other insects. A Tomcat affected skin area will usually experience itching. When severe, the skin may blister. Not expected to face Tomcat attacks panic as poison is not deadly. Skin that has been "bitten" can be washed with soapy water for first aid antiseptic.

Characteristics of the Tomcat affected skin is very individual, can be mild to severe:

1. Appear reddish color of the skin2. The skin will feel itchy3. Irritation or inflammation of the skin4. Will appear blistered skin due to irritation5. If severe, then there will be pus in the skin

Prevention of Tomcat’s envenomization

Pesticide for Tomcat is a vegetable extract that typically contains galangal, lemongrass and neem leaves in order to kill tomcat. Other things can be done as a form of prevention is through people's behavior for example by closing the doors and windows before turning on the lights, because tomcat follows the light.

Tomcat usually appear to crawl and hide the wings and look more like ants. If disturbed it will improve the look of the stomach like a scorpion.

1. Avoid direct contact.Direct contact with Tomcat is tantamount to attach the skin to toxins.

Usually skin will feel the heat followed by the appearance of itchy spots, watery and black marks on the skin. If you want to get rid of the animal, use paper or other batsman, not by hand.

3. Put mosquito nets and also close the windows and doors before turning on the lights to prevent the entry of beetles.

5. Make sure the home environment clean4. Annihilate the untreated plants and ensure cleanliness of the park so

that animals will not be nested. Prevention is better than cure so make sure the house is clean and comfortable so do not be distracted from Tomcat problem. Although insects are useful to farmers, we also must remain vigilant.
