Why Nigeria?
Nigerian Government is Strengthening its Institutions
• Ministry of Trade & Investment
• Nigeria Investment Promotion Commission
• National Agency for Food & Drug Administration & Control (NAFDAC)
• Enabling environment for increased PPP
Local Manufacturing Challenges and Solutions
• Equipment and machinery for manufacturing currently attracts duties and VAT – we advise that the Government reviews this to a zero duties and VAT burden on all equipment and machinery for Manufacturing.
• Local Manufacturing in Nigeria currently experiences the some of the highest raw material duties (Tariffs) in Africa. We advise that the Government implements the Manufacturer’s Association of Nigeria (MAN) submission on tariff changes which aims at lowering tariffs on raw materials needed for production where they are not available or not available at the right quality in the country.
Local Manufacturing Challenges and Solutions
• The export Expansion grant incentive scheme lends great support to local manufacturing. The Government should work more closely with implementing offices to ensure a smooth running process
• We believe that effective Implementation of VAT exempt Legislation on applicable products in conjunction with customs offices will go a long way to helping the Government actualize many of its goals in the transformation agenda.
• We also believe continuing investments into power sector, ports, roads and railroads infrastructure will help local manufacturers reduce manufacturing cost and will go a long way in making Nigerian manufacturing sector more competitive.
• P&G is a model investor in Nigeria and believes in Nigeria’s potential
• Our growth and expansion plans are long-term
• We are successfully operating with integrity
• We see and support the Government taking steps to improve the manufacturing environment in Nigeria.
