Image AnalysisHere is a long shot image taken by Tom Jenkins of England rugby player, Johnny Wilkinson. In this image we can see the stadium and the fans. The point of interest for this image is clearly Wilkinson. The leading lines support the point of interest for this image because the fans have extended arms, reaching out to get a handshake or even just a touch of Wilkinson. The colours for this image are a mixture of green with the stadium and white for the fans’ kits. A good majority of the fans are wearing the kits, this brings an overall sense of pride for the Country. This is also supported by the fans seemingly desperately reaching for Wilkinson. The lighting for this image is high-key and both natural from the open-top of the stadium and fluorescent from the floodlights. This allows all of the image to be light up, with some shadows formed. The depth of field for this image is very deep because everything is in focus, from Wilkinson to the fans all the way at the top of the stands.

Image AnalysisHere is a long shot taken by Tom Jenkins. This image is of a Liverpool v.s. Manchester United game, where we can see Wayne Rooney scoring a screamer against Pepe Reina. This image is landscape, this allows us to see all different points of interest in the image – including: The ball, the key players in this attempt on goal and the stadium. This also supports the depth of field being deep due to all the stand being in focus. There are a few different points of interest, at first you may think it would be the ball flying in the net but the camera’s focus is more on the players and pitch. The leading lines for this image are Reina’s arms reaching for the ball, this allows Cristiano Ronaldo’s face to be in much more focus. The colours in this image are dominated by reds and greens, the reds definitely signify the Manchester United team spirit and their victories – which supports the goal they have just scored. The greens are from the pitch and Reina’s jersey. The lighting is very high-key natural lighting, despite there being a huge shadow cast towards Reina’s net, the sun still manages to light up the whole stadium.

Image AnalysisHere is an image taken by Tom Jenkins on a vast running track. The main focus of this image is clearly the runner. The leading lines for this image are the poles coming from the top of the stadium and also the runner’s arms, these lines support the point of interest because they lead towards his face. This is a landscape image allowing a large amount of the running track and sky are in the shot. The colours for this image are blue and grey, the blue is natural and comes from the bright sky and the grey from the track. The lighting is low key and natural as it is coming from the sky, there are shadows cast all over the running track however his face is staying in the high-key lighting, drawing more attention and focus to him.The depth of field for this image would by deep being even though there is only one true main focus, the track is still in focus considerably.

Image AnalysisHere is a medium shot from the Athens Olympics in 2004. This image was taken by Tom Jenkins and we can see the sheer happiness and surprise from a winning runner. The point of interest for this image is runner 1809 and the camera’s focus helps her stand out tremendously. The leading lines for this image are the runners extended arms which lead to her face, this draws the audience’s eye to her face almost instantly. Anoter line could be runner 2548’s arm which again leads to the winner. The colours in this image are bright from the number sheets on the runner and also the running gear they are sporting, meanwhile the track and background are both predominantly brown and blue. The lighting for this image is a mixture of natural from the sky and un-natural from the floodlights, all the runners and other things are fully light up so the camera which broadcasts to the TV audience at home can see who they want to watch. The depth of field is fairly shallow because on the winner is fully in focus, the other runners and back ground are all out of focus.

Photographic CategorySportPurposeThe purpose of this image is to document the running event an capture the excitement as the runner wins.Meaning CreatedThe meaning created in this image is that of shock coming from the winner and her expression.

Image Analysis

Here is an image of Usain Bolt and Mo Farah taken by Tom Jenkins. This image is from the London 2012 Olympics. The image is landscape meaning that both points of interest are in focus while a majority of the stadium can still be in shot. The points of interest for this image are clearly the two runners, this is supported by the clothing they are wearing, especially Bolt’s as it is bright yellow which is the colour of his home, Jamaica. Whilst Farah has the colours of the union Jack.

The lighting for the image seems to be mainly from the floodlights, as it appears to be at night – this makes the lighting high-key as it has multiple light sources and no visible shadows.

The depth of field for this image is shallow because only the main points of interest are in focus, the background is not.
