Switching the unit on/off with theKeyCard:The unit switches on or off when theKeyCard is inserted or removed.Refer to section @ in the Quick Refer-ence on the KeyCard theft protectionsystem.
Switching the unit on/off with theignition:If the unit has been connected accord-ingly, it can be switched on and offwith the car ignition.After you switch off the ignition, a dou-ble beep will sound to remind you toremove the KeyCard and take it withyou.
Switching the unit on with the igni-tion switched off:After you have switched off the ignition(KeyCard is inserted in the unit), youcan continue to operate the unit as fol-lows:After the double beep press ON.The unit will switch on.After the unit has played for an hour itwill switch off automatically to preventthe car battery from running down.
2 ONSwitching the unit on:With the KeyCard inserted, press ONbriefly.The unit will begin to play in the oper-ating mode selected last at the pre-setvolume.
To switch off the unit:Press ON for approx. 1 second.
The viewing angle of the display canbe adjusted individually to ensure opti-mum legibility. If necessary, refer tothe section on “Optimizing the displaylegibility”.
Switching the sound on/off:Press ON briefly. When the sound hasbeen switched off, “MUTE” will appearin the display.The sound can be switched on againby turning the volume knob 3.

1 Unlocking the fold-down operatingpanelIt is possible to insert or remove theKeyCard and the CD when the operat-ing panel is unlocked.To unlock the panel press 1, the op-erating panel will fold down. The oper-ating panel cannot be removed. Do notuse the panel as a rest or shelf.To lock the panel, push it back into itsstarting position (arrow 3).

3 Adjusting the volumeTurn the knob to adjust the volume asdesired.
The volume level selected will appearin the display. When the unit isswitched on, it will automatically playat the pre-set volume (ON VOL).It is possible to adjust the ON VOL (re-fer to “DSC programming - ON VOL”).

Radio operation
While listening to the radio you canpress TU to switch between menu lev-el 1 and menu level 2.The unit will return to menu level 1 au-tomatically 8 seconds after the last keyis pressed.
Menu level 1Station keys and memory levels
NEXT - FMSwitches between the memory levelsfor FM I, FM II, FM T.NEXT - AMSwitches between the AM and AMTmemory banks.
ST1 - ST6On this memory level it is possible tostore radio stations on the FM levels I, IIand “T” on the keys marked ST1 to ST6.6 stations each can be stored for theAM banks AM and AMT.Storing a radio station - Press one ofthe station keys from ST1 to ST6 untilit is possible to hear the program again(beep).Recalling a radio station - Select thedesired band. Press NEXT to selectthe memory level required and pressthe corresponding station key briefly.
Menu level 2Adjusting the radio functions
NEXT - FMSwitches between the memory levelsfor FM I, FM II, FM T.NEXT - AMSwitches between the AM banks AMand AMT.
BNDSelects the band and memory level(FM I, FM II, FM T, AM, AMT).
SCA - Scana) PTY is switched off(lettering is lit normally, not highlightedin the display)Press SCA briefly (Radio Scan) -“SCAN” will flash in the display alter-nately with the abbreviation for the sta-tion being scanned. All of the radiostations within reception range will bescanned.

TS (Travelstore)If you press TS, the radio will switch toFMT or AMT from any other bank. Thesix stations with the strongest recep-tion will be stored automatically. Afterthe stations have been stored, the ra-dio will tune into the station with thebest reception and begin to play.
PTY(Program Type)With PTY the station keys become pro-gram type keys.
Press SCA for approx. 1 second(Preset Scan) -You will hear a beep and “SCAN” willflash in the display alternately with theabbreviation for the station beingscanned. The radio stations whichhave been stored on the station keysand which are currently within recep-tion range will be scanned.
Stopping Radio Scan / Preset Scan:Press SCA or the rocker switch onceagain.

Press SCA -the stations broadcasting the pro-grams for the PTY program type se-lected will be scanned.
AF (Alternative Frequency for RDSoperation)If “AF” is highlighted in the display, theradio will automatically search for a

- MIX OFF = switches the function off.
SCA - ScanScans the tracks (the tracks of all theCDs for changer operation).
Start Scan:Press SCA. The tracks will be scannedin ascending order one after the other.The scan time can be adjusted (see“DSC programming - SCANTIME”).
Stop Scan:Press SCA. The track scanned last willbegin to play.
RPT - RepeatCD tracks or CDs in the CD changercan be repeated as often as desired.Press the RPT key to select one of thefollowing functions:
- REP TRCK = Repeat track- REP CD = Repeat CD (for changer
operation only)- RPT OFF = switches the function off
TPM - Track Program MemoryTo store and play your favorite tracksin CD or changer operation. Up to 30CDs for the CD drive and up to 99 CDsin the CD changer can be stored in thesystem with a maximum of 40 trackseach. (See the section on “TPM - Pro-gramming”)
CLRTo clear the TPM memory. (See thesection on “TPM - Deleting the memo-ry”)

7 DSC (Direct Software Control)Using DSC it is possible to adjust theprogrammable basic settings andequalizer settings.Further information: “DSC program-ming” and "Setting the equalizer".
8 AUDAdjusts treble, bass, balance (left/right), fader (front/rear) and loudness.Loudness = Boosts low frequency formore bass and a better adjustment tothe human ear.
For FM, AM, CD and AUX it is possibleto store different treble, bass and loud-ness settings.
How to make the settings:Select the operating mode.Press AUD once, “BASS” and the levelcurrently selected will appear in thedisplay.
Use << / >> to select the differentmodes.Use / to make the correspondingsettings.The settings selected will appear in thedisplay. The setting selected last willbe stored automatically.
Special Loudness feature:Press / to select the setting fromLOUD 6 to LOUD OFF.
Switching off AUD:Press EXIT or AUD.If you do not alter any of the settings,AUD will switch off automatically after8 seconds.

What you need to knowBefore using your new car audio system,please read through the following informa-tion carefully.
Traffic safetyAs the driver of a motor vehicle, it is yourresponsibility to pay attention to the trafficsituation at all times. Never use your car au-dio system in a way that could distract you.
Please keep in mind that you travel a dis-tance of approx. 45 feet per second at aspeed of only 32 mph.
Should the traffic situation become particu-larly demanding, we advise you not to usethe audio system.
Always make sure that you are still able tohear any warning signals coming from out-side the vehicle, such as police or fire enginesirens, so that you can react accordingly.
Consequently, you should always select amoderate volume for playing your car audiosystem while you are driving.

Telephone mute
If you have installed a car telephone in yourvehicle, it is possible to automatically mutethe radio or CD playback when you use thetelephone (telephone mute). “PHONE” willthen appear in the display.

Removing the KeyCard
To unlock the operating panel:
• Press 1, the operating panel will folddown forwards.
• Push the card in to the right as far aspossible and remove it to the front.
• Push the operating panel back into po-sition.
For safety’s sake, the operatingpanel must remain locked whenthe vehicle is in motion.When you leave the vehicle, un-lock the panel and remove theKeyCard to protect the equipmentagainst theft.
“Training” a KeyCard/Replacinga KeyCard
When the unit is in operation with the firstKeyCard, you can “train” another one to bealso used with the set.
If you want to “train” a KeyCard:• Insert the first KeyCard and turn on the
set.
• Press the DSC button and press / to select “LEARN KC”.
• Press << or >>.The display will switch to “CHANGE”.

• Insert the KeyCard with the contactsfacing down as shown in the illustra-tion (arrow 1).

• Push the card in the direction of the ar-row (2) and lock the operating panelback into position (arrow 3).
The car radio is now ready for operation.
If a wrong KeyCard is inserted, then “CARDERR” will appear in the display.
The system will switch off after approximate-ly ten seconds.
If another card type is inserted (e.g. phoneor credit card), the display will show“WRONG KC” for approximately two sec-onds.
Remove the wrong card and insert the cor-rect KeyCard.
• Press ON to turn on the set.
This car radio comes equipped with two Key-Cards.
If you have lost your KeyCard or if it wasdamaged, you can buy a new one from yourspecialized dealer.
If you use two KeyCards, the settings storedon the first card will be transmitted to thesecond. However, you can individually storethe following functions:
Preset button assignments, bass, treble,balance and fader settings, loudness, beepvolume, LOW-EQ and HIGH-EQ.
In addition, the settings activated before theradio is switched off, such as the band, sta-tion, AF, REG ON/OFF, SCANTIME, seektuning sensitivity, ON VOL and SHARX willalso remained stored.
This ensures that you will find your basicsettings re-adjusted automatically as soonas you have inserted your KeyCard.
Putting the unit into operation
• Turn on the set with ON.To insert the KeyCard, unlock the operatingpanel by• pressing 1, the operating panel will
fold down.

• Remove the first KeyCard and insertthe new one while “CHANGE” still ap-pears in the display.
After the display indicates “LEARN OK” or“LEARN KC”,• press DSC.Now you can also use the new KeyCard foroperating your unit.
A maximum of two cards can be used withthe set.
If you attempt “train” a third Card, the ac-cess authorization for the KeyCard not usedfor the “training” process will be deleted au-tomatically.
Displaying the radio data
You can use the KeyCard supplied with yourset to display the radio pass data such asthe model name, product number (7 6 ...)and serial number.
Please refer to the section on “DSC pro-gramming - READ KC”.
Short Additional Memory(S.A.M.)
The second KeyCard can be programmendby your dealer to read out short information,which will run through the display, for ex-ample, the phone number of your car deal-er or the emergency call number of yourautomobile association.
The selectable text with a maximum of 162characters can be programmed by any deal-er who has the required programming equip-ment available.
Optical display as theft protec-tionFlashing light diode ?
When the vehicle is stationary and the Key-Card has been removed, the light diode canbe switched to flash for extra anti-theft se-curity.
For this it is necessary that the positive pow-er supply line and the permanent +12 V leadare connected such as described in the in-stallation instructions.Make sure that the unit is switched off; theoperating panel is unlocked; the KeyCardhas been removed; “LED ON” has beenselected in the DSC mode (factory setting).If necessary, please refer to the section on“DSC programming - LED”.
Switching off the flashing light diode
The flashing light can be switched off byselecting “LED OFF” in the DSC menu.
Care of your KeyCard
To ensure that the KeyCard will functionproperly it is important that the contacts arefree from any foreign particles. Avoid directskin contact.
If necessary, clean the KeyCard contactsusing a cotton swab soaked in rubbing al-cohol.
Lost or damaged KeyCard
If the KeyCard for your unit is lost or dam-aged you can train a new KeyCard.You can purchase the new KeyCard fromany authorized dealer. You will also requirethe master code for the unit, which you willget from your authorized dealer.

Selecting the operatingmode
You can select from among the followingoperating modes: radio (TU), CD and CDC(changer).
CD cannot be selected unless a CD is in-serted in the drive.CDC cannot be selected unless one of theBlaupunkt changers, the A 06, the A 072,the A 08, the A09, the A 05, or the A 071has been connected and there is at leastone CD in the magazine.
To switch the operating mode:• press TU, CD or CDC.If you press TU again, the unit will switch tomenu level 2. On this level it is possible toadjust the functions for radio operation. Theunit will switch back to menu level 1 auto-matically approx. eight seconds after the lastadjustment was made.
Optimizing displaylegibility
The viewing angle of the display can be al-tered to allow optimum legibility.• Press DSC.
• Press the lower part of the rockerswitch until “ANGLE” appears in thedisplay.
• Press << / >> to set the best viewingangle for your position.
When you have completed the setting• press DSC.

Radio operation with RDS (Radio Data System)
If the reception quality of the selected pro-gram deteriorates beyond a certain point:• Tune into another station.Note: AF will be deactivated if you switchRDS off.
Selecting a band
With this car radio you can select betweenthe following bands:
FM 87.7 - 107.9 MHzAM 530 - 1710 kHz• Select the desired band by pressing
TU, menu level 2 will appear in the dis-play.
Menu level 2
• Press BND (as often as required) toselect the band.
The radio will switch through the bands asfollows: FM I, FM II, FMT, AM, AMT.
AF - Alternative frequencyThe AF (Alternative Frequency) functionmakes sure that the strongest frequency ofthe currently selected program is alwaystuned in automatically.
Switching AF on/off:For radio operation• Press TU, menu level 2 will appear.
• Press the AF button until you hear abeep.
The function is activated when “AF” lightsup in the display.
While searching for the strongest receptionsignal, the radio may switch to mute briefly.
If “SEARCH” appears in the display whenyou switch on the radio or recall one of thestored frequencies, this indicates that theunit is automatically searching for an alter-native frequency.
“SEARCH” will disappear from the displaywhen the alternative frequency has beenfound or after the frequency band has beenrun through completely.
The Radio Data System offers you moreconvenience when you listen to FM radiostations.
More and more radio stations have begunto broadcast RDS information alongsidetheir programs.
As soon as a program has been identified,the station name including a regional identi-fier, if available, will appear in the display.
When RDS is activated, the preset buttonsbecome program buttons. You now knowexactly which program you have tuned into,making it easy to find the desired stationquickly.

Switching from stereo to mono(FM)
If reception is poor, you may get bettersound quality by switching from stereo tomono in the DSC menu. Each time the ra-dio is switched on, stereo playback is acti-vated automatically.
The unit will automatically switch to mono ifthe signal received is not strong enough forstereo playback.
If you would like to switch to mono, refer to“DSC programming - STEREO/MONO”.
The mode selected is indicated briefly in thedisplay.
Automatic bandwidth adjust-ment (SHARX)
In the DSC menu, you can use the SHARXfunction to adjust the bandwidth in the FMfrequency range. This can be a great ad-vantage when there are a large number ofstations within your current reception range.
Interference with strong adjacent stationscan be reduced to an absolute minimum ifyou activate SHARX ON (factory setting).
If necessary, refer to the section on “DSCprogramming – SHARX”.
To select a scanned station and switchoff Preset Scan:• Press SCA or the rocker switch briefly.

To select a scanned station and switchoff the Radio Scan function:• Press SCA or the rocker switch briefly.If you do not select a station, the scan func-tion will automatically switch off after the fre-quency band has been run through com-pletely. The unit will tune into the station youwere listening to before you started the scanfunction.
Changing the scan timeThe scan time can be set from between fiveto a maximum of 30 seconds.
Please refer to the section on “DSC pro-gramming - SCANTIME”.
Selecting the seek tuning sensi-tivity
You can alter the automatic seek tuningsensitivity.
If “lo” is displayed, the radio will only pick upstrong, local stations (low sensitivity).
If “lo” does not light up, the radio will alsopick up weaker, more distant stations (highsensitivity).
If you want to alter the sensitivity level,please refer to the section on “DSC program-ming - LO/DX”).

PTY - Program Type
PTY is an RDS service which an increasingnumber of broadcasting stations have be-gun to offer. This feature allows you to se-lect FM stations according to their programtype. After you have chosen the PTY of yourpreference, the corresponding stations canbe selected either by seek tuning or usingthe scan function.
Switching PTY on/off
• Press PTY.When the function is active, the programtype selected last will briefly appear in thedisplay, e.g. “SPORT”. As long as PTY isactive, “PTY” will appear permanently in thedisplay.
Program type
Use << >> to have the last selected programtype displayed and to choose a new one.
You can select any one of the stored types
with the preset buttons ST1 - ST6.
Requirement: PTY must be active.

If desired, you can also replace these withother available program types.

PTY priority
Situation:
PTY is switched on and lights up in the dis-play.
No station offering the selected programtype can be found currently in your recep-tion range (with seek tuning or scan).
The set will switch back to the station previ-ously tuned into.
As soon as it is possible to receive a pro-gram in the broadcasting network with thePTY selected, the radio will switch over tothe corresponding station for the durationof the program.
Radio operation with RDS (Radio Data System)
Example:
- Station playing: #1.
- “PTY” lights up in the display.
- Program type “POP” selected.
- Seek tuning is started.
- No station with “PTY-POP” can befound.
- The display shows “NO PTY” and
- automatically switches back to #1.
- #2 airs a “PTY-POP” program.
- The radio will switch to the linked sta-tion #2 for the duration of the “POP”program.
During CD operation, the set will also switchto the program offering the selected PTYwithin the broadcasting network.
After the PTY program has ended the sys-tem will switch back to the previous mode(radio or CD).

The CD will be transported to its playingposition automatically. CD playback willstart.• Push the operating panel up on the
left-hand side and lock it into position.
Removing a CD
• Fold down the operating panel andpress the Eject button (arrow) for ap-prox. 1 second.
The CD will be ejected.
To protect the CD mechanism, do not im-pair or try to help the automatic insertion andejection of the disc in any way.
If the CD is not removed from the drive withinapproximately 30 seconds, it will be re-in-serted automatically.
For safety’s sake, the operatingpanel must remain locked whenthe vehicle is in motion.

Use only standard circular CDs measuring12 cm in diameter!CDs measuring 8 cm in diameter or promo-tional CDs in different shapes such as a but-terfly or beer mug are not suitable for play-back using this equipment.This is very likely to result in the destructionof the CD or the CD drive.We assume no liability for damage to theequipment caused by playing unsuitableCDs.

Repeating tracks/CDsYou can repeat a track or a CD (in changeroperation) as often as desired. Use the RPTkey to select the following functions:
- REP TRCK = Repeat track
- REP CD = Repeat CD (changer opera-tion only)
- RPT OFF = Repeat function off
• Press RPT as many times as neces-sary until you have selected the de-sired setting.
The CD or the track will repeat until youpress RPT to switch off the function with“RPT OFF”.
TPM(Track Program Memory)
Use this feature to program and play yourfavorite CD tracks in CD and changer oper-ation. Up to 30 CDs can be managed in theCD mode, up to 99 discs in the CDC mode,with a maximum of 40 tracks each. TPM canonly be used in the mode it was stored in(CD or changer operation).
Selecting CDs and titlesYou can use the rocker switch to conven-iently select CDs, tracks or passages. Youcannot select CDs unless a CD changer hasbeen connected.

Storing tracks with TPM
A track can only be stored while it is play-ing.
To store a track• press TPM for approx. 1 second, “TPM
PROG” will appear in the display.This track has been stored.
Switching TPM playback on/off
• Press TPM briefly. The mode selectedwill appear briefly in the display (TPMON/OFF).
If “TPM” is highlighted in the display, thismeans that TPM playback is active. All ofthe tracks on the CD stored in this operat-ing mode will be played. If you activate SCA(scan) as well, these tracks will be scanned.
TPM playback cannot be activated unlessyou have already stored tracks with the TPMfunction.
Deleting the TPM
You can delete the tracks stored with TPM.TPM tracks can be deleted with CLR onlywhen they are playing.• Switch on TPM.
“TPM” will be highlighted in the dis-play.In this case, “CLR” will appear belowTPM.
If you would like to delete the track playing• press CLR for approx. 2 seconds,
“TRCK CLR” will flash briefly in the dis-play.
If you would like to delete all of the trackson the CD playing• press CLR for approx. 5 seconds,
“DISC CLR” will flash briefly in the dis-play.
If you would like to delete all of the trackson all of the CDs in the magazine in chang-er operation• press CLR for approx. 8 seconds,
“ALL CLR” will flash briefly in the dis-play.
If you would like to delete the TPM and theCD names at the same time, refer to thesection on “Deleting CD names/TPM withDSC UPDATE”.
MIXYou can have the CD tracks played in ran-dom order. The MIX function is active when“MIX” is highlighted in the display.
You can choose the following MIX functions:
MIX CD
The tracks on the selected CD will be playedin random order. The next disc will be se-lected in numerical order. MIX (random or-der) applies to the playback of the tracks.
MIX MAG (for changer operation only)
CDC A 08, IDC A 09: All tracks on the CDsin the magazine will be played in randomorder.
CDC A 05, A 06, A 071 and 072: The CDsin the magazine are selected at random andthen the tracks on the CD selected areplayed in random order.
MIX OFF
The Mix function is deactivated. Discs andtitles will be selected in numerical order.
To alter the setting:
• Press MIX briefly, the function selectedwill appear briefly in the display.

Entering CD names
You can enter names for up to 30 discs andin changer operation for up to 99 discs.

as often as necessary until “CD-NAME” appears in the display.
• Press << >>.The position for the first character will beginto flash.
You can delete the name stored for the CDin the CD drive and its TPM with “CLRDISC”.
Use “CLR ALL” to delete the names andTPM for all of the CDs.
Insert the CD for which you want to deletethe name into the CD drive.• Press DSC.
• Press / as many times as requireduntil “UPDATE” appears in the display.
• Press >> to select “CLR DISC” if youwant to delete the name and TPM ofthat CD,
or
• Press << to select “CLR ALL” to deletethe names and TPM stored for all ofthe CDs.

The deletion process is complete.
To return to “UPDATE” in the DSC menuwithout deleting the CD names and TPM:• Press ENT.

Clock - Time
This car stereo is equipped with a built-inclock which automatically takes advantageof RDS to ensure highly accurate time-keep-ing (hours, minutes).
For the clock to function properly with RDS,an RDS station with the CT function (CT –clock time) must be received.
The automatic correction of the time cannotbe switched off completely.
Setting the clock
a) automatically
The clock is set automatically when theradio is tuned into an RDS stationwhich has the “CT” function (clocktime).
b) manually with DSC-CLOCKSET
• Press DSC briefly, “CLOCKSET” willappear in the display.
• Press << >> to set the hours/min-utes. You can move to a different po-sition by pressing / .
• After you have set the clock, pressENT briefly to store the new setting.
Displaying the clockYou can set the clock to permanent displayin both the radio and CD modes.
Radio mode:
You can switch between clock display andband (incl. memory bank). To do so• press DIS for approx. 2 seconds.
CD mode:
You can select from among three differentdisplay modes:
- Track number, clock- Track number, playback time elapsed- CD name, track number
To switch between the modes• press DIS briefly.
Correcting the clock after thepower has been disconnectedIf the radio has been disconnected from itspower source for a longer period of time,“0:00” will appear in the display when it isre-connected.
The time will be set automatically by RDS-CT, but can also be adjusted manually ifdesired.
You need only set the time manually if it isnot possible to receive an RDS station withCT (clock time).
If you want to set the time manually, refer tothe section on “DSC programming - CLOCK-SET”.
Deactivating the hour correctionfunction
In the DSC menu it is possible to switch offthe hour correction function with “CLK MAN/CLK AUTO”. An automatic correction forminutes will continue to take place.
This is useful if you would like to display thetime for a different time zone, for example.
If necessary,• Press DSC briefly and
• Press / as often as required until“CLK MAN/CLK AUTO” appears in thedisplay.
To deactivate the hour correction functionpress << >> to select “CLK MAN”.

Setting the equalizer
The acoustic characteristics of the car inte-rior affect the quality of the sound repro-duced in your vehicle to a much greater ex-tent than the speakers.
Position, installation and the rear volumesof, for example, the door or rear windowshelf all play an important role.
Even the sound produced by well selectedand installed speakers can be affected neg-atively by resonance frequencies in the ve-hicle interior.
As a result, the bass sounds may be lost orreverberate, the mid-range tones sound toooverpowering and music instruments orvoices may be distorted or the total soundquality may be completely lifeless.
The overall sound quality can be greatlyenhanced if certain frequencies are sup-pressed or boosted.
This car stereo is equipped with 2 paramet-ric filters. The first filter “LOW EQ” can beset from 32 to 500 Hz, the second filter“HIGH EQ” from 630 to 10000 Hz. In thiscontext, parametric means that it is possi-ble to set the frequency and either boost orreduce it (+10 to –20 dB) individually foreach of these filters.
These parametric filters can be adjusted tovery exact settings even without the help ofmeasuring instruments.
The individual steps you have to take tomake these settings are described in thetable.
Notes on making the settingsThe following notes are intended as recom-mendations only. They do not necessarilyreflect your own personal sound preferenc-es.
We recommend that you use a music CDyou are familiar with to make the settings.The CD should include tracks with differentinstruments and vocals. Purely electronicmusic is not well suited to serve as a basisfor making the settings because the originalsounds cannot be determined.
Before you set the equalizer, set bass, tre-ble, balance and fader to “0”.
This setting is described in the Quick Refer-ence under 8 AUD.
Now listen to the CD you have selected.
Evaluate the sound according to your ownpersonal preferences.
Now refer to “Sound impression/problem” inthe table and you will find suggestions toeliminate any problems under “What to do”.
Make the settings for bass and the lowermid-range tones with the LOW EQ filter,select HIGH EQ for treble and mid-rangetones.
The “HIGH EQ” and “LOW EQ” filters canbe set in the DSC menu:
• Press DSC.
• Press / as often as necessary until“HIGH EQ” or “LOW EQ” appears inthe display.
• Press << or >> once and
• Set the level in the following table bypressing / .

This function has been setto “SHARX ON” at the facto-ry.
HICUT Interference-related cut inthe treble sound. Cuts thetreble when interference oc-curs. Can be adjusted fromNO HICUT (OFF) to HICUT3 (highest setting). Whichsetting is the most pleasantis a matter of personal pref-erence.
LO/DX To adjust the seek tuningsensitivity.
“LO” stands for local recep-tion.“DX” stands for distant re-ception.Select “LO 3” if you want toreceive strong stations inthe local area, select “DX 1”if you want to tune intoweaker stations which arefurther away.
DSC programming
The car stereo has been equipped with DSC(Direct Software Control) to allow you tocustomize certain programmable, basic set-tings to suit your personal needs and pref-erences and then store them.The basic settings for this audio equipmentwere made at the factory.In the following you can find an overview ofthese settings, so that you can always resetto them if desired.If you wish to alter any of the programming,• press DSC.Use the rocker switch and the ENT buttonto select and adjust the functions de-scribedin the following. The display will show youthe setting you have selected.

CLK AUTO/MANSwitches the hour correctionfunction on/off. Read the in-formation in the section on“Clock, Deactivating thehour correction function”.
12/24H MODESelect the clock display(12 or 24-hour display)
CLK ON/OFF The clock display will ap-pear when the ignition isswitched on, but the carstereo is switched off. In thiscase, set CLK ON.
ON VOL Use this function to selectthe volume at which the ra-dio is set when it is switchedon.Adjust the desired volumelevel with << >>.When adjusted to “LASTVOL”, the system will comeon at the volume selectedbefore it was switched off.
BEEP Acknowledgement tone forall functions which require abutton to be pressed formore than one second.The volume can be adjustedfrom between 0 to 9.(0 = off)
DIM DAY Use this function to selectthe display brightness forthe daytime (from 1 to 9).
DIM NIGHT Use this function to selectthe display brightness forthe night-time (from 1 to 9).
The brightness changes ac-cordingly when the carheadlights are switchedon/off.
ANGLE Adjusts the display to the in-dividual viewing angle.
SCANTIME Use this function to set thescan time for the radio orCD player from 5 to 30 sec-onds.
AUX ON/OFF
This menu item will not ap-pear if a CD changer hasbeen connected to the sys-tem. The factory setting is“OFF”.If another system compo-nent is connected to AUX,this setting must be alteredto “AUX ON”.

PEAK ON/OFFSwitches the dynamic leveldisplay for the volume on/off.
UPDATE Use this function to deleteCD names during CD andchanger operation to makemore storage capacity avail-able for new discs. (See“Deleting CD names withDSC-UPDATE”).
To quit the DSC programming mode andstore the adjustment:• Press DSC.
LEARN KC To “train” a second Key-Card.Please read the informationin the section on “KeyCardtheft protection system” -“Training a KeyCard”.
READ KC To read out the KeyCarddata.The card supplied with theradio is used to display themodel name, type number(7 6 …) and the serialnumber.With the extra card it is pos-sible to display data enteredby your specialized dealer.(See the section on “ShortAdditional Memory S.A.M.”).If you remove the KeyCardduring the reading process,“READ KC” will appear onthe display panel.
LED ON/OFF Here you can choose be-tween LED ON or LED OFF.With LED ON, the “ON”knob will flash for extra anti-theft protection when theunit has been switched offand the KeyCard removed.

In RDS this function ensures that the radioalways tunes into the frequency with the bestreception for the station.

AUD – Audio
Sound settings for bass and treble, balance(left/right) and fader (front/rear).
BND (Band)
Switches between bands and memorybanks.
Changer

Returns to the previous menu item.
DSC – Direct Software Control
With the help of DSC it is possible to adjustthe basic factory settings to your own per-sonal preferences.
ENT (Enter)
