    TOK ETHICS: Mini presentation Structure

    Go to the BBC website:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/ethics/guide/

In pairs choose one ethical issue OR use a case study you know that contains several

    perspectives and ethical complexities.

60 minutes to prepare, 10 minutes each to present.

    1. Outline the issue why it is an issue where it exists why it is an ethics issue givethe territory and history of the issue.

    2. Identify at least 3 perspectives on the topic 3 different stakeholders or interestgroups who have different perspectives that clash on the issue

    3. Present each perspective as a group who make knowledge claims.4. Look at the 4 theories of ethics in considering your issue5. For each group you must consider:

    The knowledge claim

    The justifications for the claims

The sources for the claims religion, science, cultural practice etc

The role of the 4 ways of knowing in supporting such justifications for the claims

Look at a language extract used or stated by the group and analyse it for persuasive

    techniques

Look at the role of emotion in the perspective do people get angry? Happy? Sad? EtcExamine the function of reason in the justification. Are there flaws in reasoning apparent?

How does sense perception play a role in justification of a knowledge claim?

    6. Ultimately be prepared to make statements about the Knowledge issues as you goalong and finally come up with ONE BIG KNOWLEDGE ISSUE

Use this table to clarify your ideas
