Part I - Towel DesignStep 1 – Create template

Select the Artwork>Rectangle.

Drag the cursor to create a rectangle on the screen.

Measure the design area on the towel border. Select the Transform option in the Properties box. Uncheck Maintain aspect ratio. Input the design size into the Width and Height boxes. Click Apply.

Click the down arrow on the zoom box. Select the option To Fit.

Step 2 – Insert border designs

Select File>Merge.

Select the desired Toile Border design. Click Open to merge the design into the file.

With the design still selected, right click on the design and select Group.

Right click again and select Duplicate..

Click on the screen to duplicate the design.

Select the new design and move it next to the original design. (The second design is already grouped because it was duplicated.)

Step 3 – Adjust designs

Click the down arrow on the Zoom tool. Select To Fit.

With the second design selected, click the Flip Vertical icon.

With the design still selected, click the Flip Horizontal icon.

If necessary, scoot the second design a little closer to the first. Select both designs without selecting the placement box.

Select Properties> Transform. Recheck Maintain aspect ratio. Enter 11.5 into the Width Box. The Height box will automatically calculate. Click Apply.

With the designs only still selected, right click and select Group.

Select all by pressing Cntl+A. Right click. Select Align>Center to fit the border in the box template perfectly.

Step 4 – Change stitch length

Select the embroidery designs by clicking on their color in the Sequence View box.

In the Properties Box, select the Run tab if it is not displayed. Change the Stitch length to 2.5mm. Click Apply. Since these designs will be embroidered with two strands of thread, the extra stitch length provides a bit more room for the extra thread.

Step 5 – Save the file

Select File>Save As. Change the design name, if desired, and save the design in the machine format for your machine.

Step 6 – Print Design Template

Select File>Print Preview.

Print pages one and two on plain paper. Trim the two designs close to the placement box and set aside until Part III.

Part II – Pocket BorderStep 1 – Edit design

Select File>Open. Open the same design used in the towel border.

The pocket border has been designed so that it is not necessary to resize the design. It will fit perfectly on the border fabric. However, because the same two threads are used on this design, the stitch length does need to be modified.

With the design selected, display the Run tab in the Properties box. Change the stitch length from 1.8mm to 2.5mm. Click Apply.

Step 2 – Print template

Select File>Print Preview. Print the first page, the design template, on plain paper. Trim away excess paper.

Part III – Template Tearaway

Arrange all three trimmed paper templates on the bed of a copier or flat-bed scanner. Load a piece of Template Tearaway. All three templates will print on the same page. (No waste!)

Trim the templates. Leave a bit of extra Template Tearaway on the left side of the right towel template. This will allow the left side template to stick to the right when they are put together.
