Mahindra & Mahindra ESOPS AWARD

CHANDIGARH

Mobile Primary and Cancer Care Project of Global Cancer Concern India (GCCI), be-

ing run at Mohali in Punjab with the support of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. Swaraj Divi-

sion won the ESOPS award out of 37 CSR Projects supported by Mahindra Group.

ESOPS (Employees Social Options) award is an internal award which is given to the

best project among the CSR projects of the companies of Mahindra & Mahindra

group. The award was presented to Swaraj Division at Mumbai on 12th August 2015

by the Jury Members.

Tobacco Control -Awareness Cum Sensitisation Workshop

CHANDIGARH

GCCI organised a workshop for the Chandigarh Police Personnel on August 4,

at the Recruitment and Training Centre, Police Lines, Chandigarh, in associa-

tion with Tobacco Control Cell of Chandigarh Administration. The workshop

was designed to increase awareness about the negative health impact of to-

bacco, and increase sensitivity to enforcement of COTPA (Cigarette & Other

Tobacco Products Act). Apart from public awareness, the Police personnel can

play a vital part in enforcing the provisions of tobacco control law (COTPA) and

achieving the goal of making public places smoke free. Experts from the Deptt

of Social and Preventive Health, PGI, Tobacco Control Cell-Punjab and Tobac-

co Control Cell-Chandigarh dealt with the subject.

Naik acquainted the students

with cancer risk factors and

harmful effects of cigarette

smoking. One- hour talk was

followed by question-answer

MOBILE PALLIATIVE CARE UNIT LAUNCHED

LUDHIANA-PUNJAB

A high profile programme was organized

at Government Circuit House in Ludhiana

in Punjab for the re-launch of GCCI Mobile

Palliative Home Care unit for the poor can-

cer patients. Mr. Simranjit Singh Bains, MLA

and a prominent social worker was the

Chief Guest Dr. Harvinder Singh Bakshi CEO

of GCCI shared dias with him. Prominent

among the others who attended the pro-

gramme were five Municipal Councilors ,

the representatives of Satsang Shabha

and important government officials. Mr.

Ganesh Bhatt, Head of Programme Man-

agement , Mr. Sukhdev Singh, Manager

and the members of Ludhiana Team of

GCCI were present on this occasion. Mr

Simranjit Singh Bains, MLA and Dr.

Harvinder Singh Bakshi, CEO, GCCI were

interviewed by the media in the press con-

ference which was attended by 4 TV chan-

nels and 6 news papers . The Palliative

Care Unit project is partially supported by

HelpAge India, a prominent national age

care NGO.

A CANCER AWARENESS PROGRAMME WAS CONDUCTED BY MR.SHAURYA, MANAGER,

GCCI IN ARMY PUBLIC SCHOOL, DARJEELING

UNION BANK SOCIAL FOUNDATION SPONSORED CANCER SCREENING

CAMPS

KOLKATA - WEST BENGAL

With the support of union bank Social Foundation cancer screen-

ing camps were organised at Chetla and Dakshindari. In camp at

Chetla,156 persons rescreened and blood samplesfrom139 per-

sons were taken for further investigations

In Dakshindari Camp,149 persons were screened and suspected

cases were referred for further investigations.

FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS BY THE SCHOOLS IN JAMSHEDPUR

JAMSHEDPUR– JHARKHAND

Motivated by the cause of Cancer, the young Samaritans of

the following schools collected the following amounts for the

cancer care work of GCCI:

LITTLE FLOWER SCHOOL - Rs.2,38,540 (on 2-5-2015)

TAGORE ACADEMY - Rs..1,22,266 (on 23-6-2015)

The cheques were presented to Ms. Paramita, Manager

UNION BANK SOCIAL FOUNDATION SUPPORTED CANCER SCREENING CAMP

BANGALORE– KARNATAKA

A special cancer screening camp was organized

at Good Shepherd Convent Church at Ulsoor in

Bangalore on 23/08/2015. 63 patients (21 male

and 42 female) were screened during the camp.

Mr. Mihir Pathnayak, CEO and other senior offi-

cials of Union Bank were present during the

camp. Ms Ajeeta Singh ,GM-CSR from Head Of-

fice of GCCI also attended the camp

CANCER AWARENESS PROGRAMMES

PUNE-MAHARASHTRA

On 13th of August 2015, Pune

region conducted an Orienta-

tion Program on Cancer ,Health

and Hygiene for the girl students

at Sinhgad Spring Dale School,

Ambegaonl. Nearly 450 students

attended the program and the

feedback here was very good.

The principal wanted a similar

program for the boys of the

school.

MISSION INDRADHANUSH

GURGAON-HARYANA

Government of India has launched Mission In-

dradhanush to immunize kids against 7 vaccine-

preventable diseases. Mission Indradhanush depicts

7 colours of the rainbow which aims to cover all

those children by 2020 who are either unvaccinat-

ed, or are partially vaccinated against 7 vaccine

preventable diseases-: diphtheria, whooping

cough, tetanus, polio, tuberculosis, measles and

hepatitis B. GCCI in association with Government of

Haryana has participated in this mission by the way

of spreading information and organizing immuniza-

tion drive at its Primary Health and Cancer Screen-

ing Centre at Gurgaon.

EMPOWERMENT,GOVT. OF INDIA

FARIDABAD-HARYANA

Senior Citizens Cultural and Welfare Association, Faridabad which is spearhead-

ing the movement for the wellbeing of the elderly in Faridabad invited Sh.

Krishan Pal Gurjar, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Social Justice & Empower-

ment as the chief Guest and Dr Harvinder Singh Bakshi, CEO of Global Cancer

Concern India (GCCI) as the Guest of Honour to the General Body Meeting of the

Association held on 26th July 2015. Mr R K Pant, President of the Association or-

chestrated the programme very well. Speaking on this occasion, Dr Bakshi spot-

lighted the role of GCCI in the field of cancer care in the country.
