We are very grateful to all our sponsors and especially to ILANGA MALL NELSPRUIT for their huge

sponsorship these past two years. This is to the advantage of every 1st team hockey player. It reduces the

purchasing costs of hockey attire for the tour and season. ILANGA MALL NELSPRUIT sponsored our

formal match attire as well as our hockey bags (back pack with sick holder) and refillable water

bottles. LOWVELDER sponsored a pair of red socks for each player and WATERBERG (Boude en

Blaaie) supplied 500 x 250ml bottles of water for the tour. Furthermore, WESTEND SPUR offered our 1st

teams the opportunity to raise money throughout the year with the SPUR evenings. This money is covering

some of our expenses.

Attached is important documentation regarding the NWU Hockey Clinic, indemnity and medical

information, which you need to fill out and return to your coach before or on 10 March 2016. Please

ensure that you also submit a copy of your ID or birth certificate.

We need to leave at 09:00 on Sunday 20 March 2016. We will therefore meet in front of the hall at

Bergvlam no later than 08:30. No player will be allowed on the bus unless all the required documentation

has been submitted and all funds have been paid. We are expected to return between 17:00 and 18:00 on

Friday 25 March 2016. Parents are requested to remain in contact with their children in order to fetch them

on time.

Pre-season in Paradise

The North West University is excited to host the 2016 clinics at their world class facilities in the heart of

Potchefstroom. Our facilities range from two water based artificial surfaces, with immaculate grass fields at

the Fanie du Toit Sports Grounds, which are considered some of the best grass fields In the country.

2016 looks to excite and ignite the hockey passion in everyone, inspiring the youth and staff, for their

seasons journey. The course is designed to encompass the core aspects of hockey and more.

Our highly skilled players and staff with their vast experience will conduct all these sessions, including our

National Players, Sullete Damons, Anelle van Deventer and various other squad members.

We are fortunate to have some of the best coaches and staff at NWU involved in the 2016 clinics with their

vast experiences and achievements, namely:

Sheldon Rostron: SA Women's Hockey Head Coach

Sheldon has as a wealth of knowledge coming from his 15 years’ experience as a coach on various levels.

His experiences from events such as the 2012 Olympics, 2014 Hockey World Cup and 2014 Commonwealth

Games amongst many others will offer you the opportunity to gain valuable insight and knowledge of the

game. He is a passionate individual that shares his visions and knowledge with all students of the game.

Shaun Hulley: NWU Women's & Provincial Head Coach

Shaun offers a vast set of skills ranging from mentoring, coaching and administration. He is well known for

the accolades and successes he has achieved over the past 8 years as the Director of hockey at "Die

Hoërskool Menlopark", one of the best hockey schools in SA. Most recently his success as gold medallists

at u/21 IPT amongst other provincial achievements pay tribute to the effort and passion he offers to the

game. He is very willing to share and pass on what he knows.

Annelize Rostron: FIH International Umpire

Annelize has been to some of the major hockey events in the world such as Champions Trophy, World

league, Commonwealth Games and many more. She will be conducting rules discussions with all the teams

as well as the coaches, giving her inputs and thoughts on the game and how it has evolved.

All teams will get the same number of Training

sessions as well as matches on the Astro Turf and

grass fields. Not indicated on the program are the

team building sessions, as well as sessions with

guest speakers, with which each of the teams will be

involved during the course of the clinic.
