Additional InformationThe TOEIC Test is the Test of English for International Communication. The TOEIC Test lasts approximately two-and-a-half hours. There are 200 questions.
All questions are multiple-choice. There are two sections, listening and reading. There are 100 listening comprehension questions (45 minutes) and 100 reading comprehension questions (75
minutes). Results are a score between 10 and 990. The results are made up of a score out of 495 for reading and a
score out of 495 for listening. Results arrive approximately one week after the test. These can be picked up from the University of Otago
Language Centre in person. Alternatively, results will be sent out by post. TOEIC produces a table which matches these scores to seven levels of English proficiency. These levels are:
905-990 International Proficiency785-900 Working Proficiency Plus604-780 Limited Working Proficiency405-600 Elementary Proficiency Plus255-400 Elementary Proficiency185-250 Memorised Proficiency
Exam PreparationStudents should read the TOEIC Test Examinee Handbook and report to the University of Otago Language Centre at the assigned time on the day of the exam and should bring only the following:
