CENTERVILLE MESSENGER (096380) Free Upon Request-Published Weekly by Centerville Church of Christ, 138 N. Central Ave., Centerville, TN 37033-1427 December 30, 2019 Volume XXXIX –Number 47 From Where I Sit” Todd Parsley "Out with the old and in with the new"! Another year has come and gone and time seems to go faster and faster the older I get. I pray that you remember the many blessings of 2019 that God blessed you with and that you eagerly await what God has in store for us in 2020. I'm excited about the countless possibilities for this congregation in the coming year. As I said on Sunday, the spiritual growth and strength of this congregation begins with each and every one of us. Each of us must desire the pure milk of the word that we may grow. The Apostle Paul reminds us in Romans 10:17; "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God". The success of the Centerville Church of Christ to grow and to continue to be a faithful congregation of the Lord's church in 2020 and beyond, rests with each and every one of its members. In the coming year this congregation will celebrate 150 years of an amazing heritage! A heritage that shows a great dedication. A dedication to loving God and love for His Son who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind. A dedication to a strict adherence to following the Bible and the Bible only. To a belief that the Bible holds the answer to the greatest question of life, "What must I do to be saved?" "Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins" (Acts 2:38). Yes, we have a great heritage, but what will we do to ensure that our heritage continues for the next 150 years? It begins with YOU! Thank you for what you have done for the Lord in the past and thank you for what you will do this coming year as well. Our past is cherished, Our future is bright, Our God is always faithful and just! Renee and I want to wish you a Happy New Year! We love you and thank you for allowing us to be a part of this wonderful family. See you Sunday! God Bless, Todd

  • Carter’s Corner COOKIES WITH SANTA surpassed all of my expectations and was a tremendous success! Our church family exceeded the call for 50 dozen sugar cookies with over 80 dozen dropped off, and they were enjoyed throughout the night by a steady stream of around 100 young people. This event provided an opportunity for a great outreach, and I am thankful for everyone who helped to make this night a success. I am already looking forward to and making plans for Cookies With Santa 2020! I HAVE CHALLENGED OUR YOUTH GROUP

to read the entirety of the New Testament throughout the year 2020. The “2020 Challenge” as we are entitling this project requires each student to spend 20 minutes each day reading and studying their Bible in order to read 20 chapters each month. On Sunday mornings, the Sr. High bible class will be taking an in-depth approach to study and conversation about the readings each week. I hope you will encourage your teenager to take part in the 2020 Challenge, and I encourage you to take part in the 2020 Challenge as well. I will include the reading plan for each month in the Messenger. I am looking forward to a great year spending time studying God’s word. AS 2019 COMES TO AN END, I look back at how great 2019 has been for our youth program and for our congregation. I’ve always said that the reason I love working with the congregation here in Centerville is because our church families sees value and understands the importance of young people in the church. So many of you have contributed to our youth in various ways over the past year and I am thankful, encouraged, and excited to begin another year with you all. In His Service, Carter
