• This lecture focuses on how some poems are organized. Not all poetry rhymes, and not all rhyming poetry follows a specific meter. Keep in mind, poetry is an art, and there are no “rules” only guidelines.

Rhyme Scheme

• Definition: The pattern of rhymes in a poem.

• A rhyme scheme has two main components:– Rhyme– Meter

Labeling Rhymes

• When we label rhymes, we show which rhymed lines match by using letter labels.
