    HIS NAME

Call to Worship “Shout for Joy” Pethel Chamber Ensemble

Nancy Poffenbarger, Suzie Rocha, Jesus Rocha, and Aaron Hufty Scripture Reading Psalm 98 Sanctuary Choir Tenors

O sing to the LORD a new song, for He has done wonderful things, His right hand and His holy arm have gained the victory for Him. The LORD has made known His salvation; He has revealed His righteousness in the sight of the nations. He has remembered His lovingkindness and His faithfulness to the house of Israel; all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth; break forth and sing for joy and sing praises. Sing praises to the LORD with the lyre, with the lyre and the sound of melody. With trumpets and the sound of the horn shout joyfully before the King, the LORD.

Let the sea roar and all it contains, the world and those who dwell in it. Let the rivers clap their hands, let the mountains sing together for joy before the LORD, for He is coming to judge the earth; He will judge the world with righteousness and the peoples with equity.

Pastor: Almighty God, before you angels sang for joy when you created with your voice the heavens and the earth.

People: Hear our voice this day and accept our praise and thanksgiving for the gifts of speech and song, which we on earth share with the heavenly host.

Pastor: O Jesus Christ, you are the Word made flesh, the firstborn of many children in the family of God who have heard your music in their hearts.

People: Open the ears of our hearts this day, that all we say and all we sing may reveal you in us and us in you, whose body and voice we are in this world.

Pastor: O Holy Spirit, with tongues as of fire you have inspired the

People: Visit us this day to kindle anew the fire of love and the light of understanding, that your church may live in the counterpoint of community.

Pastor: O Creator, Redeemer, Sustainer, you are three persons in one God living in harmony. As your church, our many voices, our many lives become one chorus to praise your holy name.

All: Bless our coming together now so that we may hear your voice and sing your words this day and always. Amen.

Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love, being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all.

“BEHOLD, I SEND MY MESSENGER AHEAD OF YOU, WHO WILL PREPARE YOUR WAY; 3THE VOICE OF ONE CRYING IN THE WILDERNESS, ‘MAKE READY THE WAY OF THE LORD, MAKE HIS PATHS STRAIGHT.’”

4John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. 5And all the country of Judea was going out to him, and all the people of Jerusalem; and they were being baptized by him in the Jordan River, confessing their sins. 6John was clothed with camel’s hair and wore a leather belt around his waist, and his diet was locusts and wild honey. 7And he was preaching, and saying, “After me One is coming who is mightier than I, and I am not fit to stoop down and untie the thong of His sandals. 8I baptized you with water; but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”

  • LIFE TOGETHERRejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. Be of the same mind toward one another; do not be haughty in mind, but associate with the lowly. Do not be wise in your own estimation. (Romans 12:15-16)

Every week we worship in a difficult balance. On one hand, there are some among us who are shouting for joy because of the Lord’s goodness, while on the other hand, there are others of us who are mourning evil and the tragedy of sin in our lives. These days those cries are even more pronounced. May we follow the Scriptural call to honor both as we gather together to worship the Lord today.

COMMUNITY MISSIONS OPPORTUNITIES: DONATIONS & DELIVERERS NEEDED! "Giving Out of Your Abundance"Greetings Church Family...Because of God’s provision we have been able to find a source to feed all of the families every week! This is why we are changing the list of needed items. Starting next week we will have food boxes already packed and ready for delivery. We will post a Needs List that asks for deliverers, curbside runners, bagging of remaining donations, prepping bulk meat, eggs, and toilet paper. This is possible because you give generously, pray fervently, and deeply care about the community. Here’s an updated collection list: Baby Items: Large diapers (sizes 4-6) & wipes, Sanitary items: toilet paper, and Snacks - Individually packaged similar to what we would provide for Briscoe Buddies This will help kids when there isn’t a meal prepared for them. All other food is purchased in bulk through the Children’s Hunger Fund and local vendors. For more info & to sign up: fbcsa.org/communitymissions
