Chemicals in smoke reduces the activity of the immune system so you are more likely to get sick. Damaging the immune system increases your chances of suffering from diseases such as cancer

b. mainstream smoke - smoke that is inhaled through a tobacco product and exhaled by a tobacco smoker

Anything the mother takes into her body the baby also takes in. The carbon monoxide in tobacco products cuts down the oxygen supply to the baby increasing your chances of birth defects, premature births, miscarriage, still births etc…
