WHO COUNTS ON YOU AS A RACE SUPPORTER?
Komen Philadelphia is responsible for breast-health initiatives for communities in 15 counties in the states of Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Approximately 7.4 million people—including 3.8 million women—count on us. And we count on every one of our Race sponsors to help ensure we have the resources to serve them.
Since our first Race for the Cure in 1991, Komen Philadelphia has:
• Provided 165,000 free mammograms• Distributed $56.6 million in grants to local hospitals and organizations• Contributed $23 million to research
While our community has made great progress in increasing early-detection practices, too many women continue to be diagnosed with breast cancer at late stages, when treatment is less effective and more invasive. In some populations we serve, the number of late-stage detections is actually on the rise.
ALL THESE PEOPLE ARE COUNTING ON YOU:• Our growing family of survivors• Women and men living with metastatic breast cancer and in need of a cure• Populations “in the shadows” that are in need of education, free mammograms and treatment support• Researchers

Thank you! You and all those fighting with Komen Philadelphia have done great things in the breast cancer movement. The thousands of survivors overwhelming the Art Museum at our Race for the Cure attest to that.
But the hope of survival still eludes millions of women and men in our community and beyond.
Too many — far too many—are still being diagnosed with breast cancer at advanced, less treatable stages. We fight this Race sea-son and every day to reach them, to teach them, to connect them with lifesaving early de-tection and treatment resources.
There’s also an entire population living with metastatic breast cancer, whose diagnoses come
with a median survival rate of just three years. We fight this Race season and every day for these Forever Fighters. We fight to help them be heard and endure. We fight to accelerate the work of researchers to find their cure.
Komen Philadelphia enters this Race for the Cure season with a bold new vision focused on bringing more of these women and men into the community of survivors, while also supporting survivors in their lives after breast cancer. Simply stated …
… Komen Philadelphia is In It. To Win It.
And we won’t stop until every person diagnosed with breast cancer is certain to survive breast cancer.
