To Whom It May Concern
I, Guy Strazz, have known Carlotta Centanni for two years. Since she has been in Australia, I have employed her as a professional singer for my music performances; these were primarily function-type work at venues such as the Opera House Northern Foyer.
Her skill as a vocalist is not merely one of entertainer; on the contrary, Carlotta has a distinctive creative voice as can be witnessed in her debut CD “Respiro” and YouTube performances at various festivals. I have also seen her perform at top venues such as The Vanguard in Sydney and she is pro-active in promoting and managing her work.
I have no hesitation in recommending her character, work quality and originality; I believe that in time Carlotta Centanni will become a significant contributor to the vibrancy of music making in Australia.
Sincerely,
Guy Strazz 10/10/2010

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
I'm writing to support Carlotta Centanni's applications.
I've known Carlotta for about two years, since she arrived in Sydney from Rome, Italy.
As the Executive Producer of SBS Radio's Italian Language Program, I've often interviewed
Carlotta and invited her to perform on the Program. The response from the audience has
always been very positive. Thanks to her wonderful voice and flawless performances, but also
thanks to her warmth and humans skills, she's managed to build a strong relationship with our
audience. I've also had the pleasure of inviting Carlotta to sing at a concert SBS Radio
organised last year to raise money for the victims of the earthquake that struck the Italian city of
L'Aquila. We managed to raise in excess of $20,000, which were then presented to the Italian
authorities in Australia by former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd during a moving ceremony.
Carlotta's performance was instrumental in attracting a large audience to the concert.
Carlotta can sing in four languages: Italian, English, Spanish and Portuguese and is extremely
versatile. She can sing jazz, pop, contemporary music and latin genres such as bossa nova or
bolero. I have no doubt that Carlotta Centanni will be an asset to Australia. Not only for her
remarkable singing voice and professionalism, but also for her proven ability to integrate
seamlessly into the Australian society. I hope this letter of reference will help you make the right
decision about her application. Please feel free to contact me should you need further details. I
am currently enjoying a break in Europe, but can be contacted at the following address:
[email protected] Because I'm sending this message via email from Europe, I
cannot physically sign it. However, I trust that my email address can testify as to its authenticity.
Kind regards, Marco Lucchi

An inconvenient story: When SBS TV first started in 1980 there was no email. Documents had
to be mailed and videotapes had to be couriered. There were no all-staff emails, no mpeg
attachments, no forwarded jokes and no SPAM. Just like any revolution, you have to take the
good with the bad :).

LA FIAMMA - The CD “Respiro” by Carlotta Centanni is out
Now available in Australia the CD “Respiro”, a collaboration of Stefano Malatesta
and Carlotta Centanni, an Italian vocalist who arrived in Australia about a year ago and is
already very well known by big Italian public in Sydney, who applauded her at length last
Sunday at the Five Dock Leisure Centre, for the Festival of the Association of Sant'Antonio
da Padova protettore di Poggioreale.
Well known musicians collaborated on the CD, such as Eric Daniel on saxophone,
Alessandro Ricucci on flute, Pasquale Laino on sax soprano, Matteo Agostini on sax baritone
and Carlos Sarmiento on keyboard.
Carlotta arrived in Australia last year with the intention of staying one month, but
after a few days she realised that “the natural beauties of this country deeply inspired her
artistic soul, which at that time needed a pause, after the heavy commitment devoted to the
production of her CD, and she discovered that she couldn't do without the light of Sydney, its
splendid nature, the colour of the sky at sunset, the song of the ocean...” So she started to
introduce herself to the local music circles, and soon she started receiving offers to
participate in shows, at the Vanguard Jazz Club in Newtown, private ceremonies at the Opera
House, the Quay Bar, the Monkey Bar in Balmain, and others.
''After one year - says Carlotta – I am happy to have remained in Australia, which I
am loving more and more, as I seek to discover continuously its beauty in every field and I
am seeking to realise something important in my life. I have always invested everything that
I have earned and the CD also is the fruit of great sacrifices...but music is my whole life...”
Born in Rome, Carlotta Centanni has had the possibility to visit and to study in India,
Brazil, England and Mexico, learning about different cultures that influenced her spiritual
and artistic development. “To travel is to experience, to grow...to explore ourselves through
the others... in fact when I write a song I am travelling.. inside myself and outside”.
Carlotta made her debut on the 17 October 2006 at the Palma D'Oro Jazz Club in
Roma, with Bob Masala on bass, Eric Daniel on saxophone, Piero Pierantozzi on drums and
Roberto Rocchetti on piano, performing classics like “Summertime” and original pieces like
“Non Sei Solo”, “Amami”, Senza Limiti”, composed by her and arranged by Stefano Senesi,
Bob Masala and Piero Pierantozzi.
Carlotta performed in a number of Roman venues: Supper Club, Gusto Latino, Big
Mama, Classico, Centrale, Blue Night, The Pier and many more. In June, July, August and
September 2007 she performed in duets and trios at the Hilton and Sheraton Hotels in Rome
and on the 9th July she performed live on RAI 2 Radio together with Eric Daniel, the song
“Non Sei Solo” in the “Matinee” program presented by Ingrassia and Rossella Brescia. In
2007 she took part on RAI One's program, “I Raccomandati”, with Massimo Ghini. She also
took part in Vodka Martini advertisements and as an actor she featured in the movie “La
Spettatrice” directed by Paolo Franchi.
Carlotta Centanni is now working on a composition that can express to all
Australians her love for this country, as well as her fondness for the Italians who live here,
whom she meets on different occasions.

Re: Carlotta Centanni
Hi there,
I would like to verify that Carlotta Centanni performed at several of the bars
around Sydney that we manage the entertainment for between October 2009
and February 2010. These include Oceans Bar in Coogee, Quay Bar at
Circular Quay and Bacco Bar in the city CBD.
She would be a fine addition to the musical fraternity in our multicultural
country!
Feel free to contact me if you require any further clarification.

Great success in Australia for vocalist Carlotta Centanni
6 May 2010
[PHOTO] As it often happens, Italy has a way of letting its best talents escape
from different areas and fields, including medical research and industry, as well as the
arts and music. It was the music industry in Italy that failed to appreciate a respected
artist emerging on the national scene, and it was Australia that gave her recognition
and adopted her.
“I have had many opportunities to travel and I lived in India, Brazil, England and
Mexico, and those travels certainly helped me, by influencing my spiritual and artistic
development. I had just finished recording my first album “Respiro” when I left for a
holiday, with my backpack and ten copies of the CD'', says Carlotta, Class of ’74.
“Then, one day I said to myself: I love this place, I’ll try and stay a while. And now
I’ve been living for almost two years in a symbiosis with this very beautiful country”.

“ After four months and many concerts, they called me to sing at the Opera House in
Sydney, one of the most significant examples of architecture of the 20th
century, whic
an icon not only for Sydney, but for the whole of Australia”, says Carlotta,
exclusively for our blog. Her albums, like her best selling “Respiro”, are now
available in music stores in Sydney and also online.
‘’Travelling is experiencing, is growing, exploring ourselves through the others”,
Carlotta explains. “Writing songs is like travelling… inside myself and around me’’.
Her resume shows her as a headliner in the Italian Song Festival, San Marino, in
2003, in “Tim Tour” of Civitavecchia in the same year and in the San Marino Festival
in 2004. She collaborated with independent label Outlawed Records 2004-2005, as a
soloist in “Timi Ama Trio”, in Accor Hotel, Villa Simius, Sardinia 2005-2006, and as
a solo vocalist at the “Forte Village” resort, Baia Chia S. Caterina di Pula, Sardinia
2005. She collaborated with Ezio Zaccagnini and Alfredo Saitto on th Zac-InProgress
Project, and performed in the following venues: Classico, The Place, Villa
Celimontana, Centrale, Blue Night, Jazzcaffè, Supper Club, La Palma and the Piper
Club.

We hope to see her again soon on Italian stages, that are unfortunately crowded with
aging, grotesque characters and old hats, who leave no space for those who really are
worthy.
Moreover, our national TVs are monopolized by young artists owned by Costanzo/De
Filippi, or by “dramatic” reality shows like X-Factor. Carlotta, we will always be
happy to support you and cheer for you. “Honour the merit” is a meritocratic motto,
unfortunately distant and forgotten.
