I hope you all had a lovely Christmas & New Year break. I can’t wait to see what comes out of 2021. Here’s hoping for a safer year for all. Congratulations to Annie Richter and Kellie Crosby on winning the Live Local, Shop Local Campaign at the end of 2020. Thank you for shopping local! Keep supporting our local economy and helping our district to thrive. Congratulations also to Nijole Brazauskas who won the 2020 Cleve District Christmas Pageant Raffle! She won herself almost $800 in vouchers at our local shops. Thank you to our local businesses for your generous donations. It has been great to see the increase in tourist numbers travelling through our district over the Summer months. Congratulations to our Australia Day Award recipients; Citizen of the Year — Melissa Fennell, Young Citizen of the Year — Hannah Forrest and Community Event of the Year — Arno Bay New Year’s Day Committee Halloween Event. I strongly encourage everyone to join us at the free Australia Day Breakfast on 26 January to congratulate our winners. The breakfast will be held in the Cleve Lion’s Park from 8am. Eastern Eyre Health Advisory Committee (EEHAC) Seeking committee members! EEHAC is one of six Health Advisory Councils in the Eyre and Far North representing the view of consumers and communities in health planning and design, as well as holding funds which can be used for health and aged care improvements. The HAC includes community members and local participation is vital. They are currently seeking members in order to meet the terms of their Constitution. This body works on behalf of three main centres - Cleve, Kimba and Cowell - and represents the views of all three local communities. Nomination forms are available from Sharon Duncan at the Cleve Hospital on 8628 2399. Positions are hoping to be filled at the February 2021 meeting.
