We took our Teen Dream Team to see "Fame" courtesy of Fourways High School. The show was

fantastic, the teens had a great time stepping out of their township environment to enjoy a fun filled afternoon.

Primary teacher’s HIV seminar which was attended by 33 teachers. The seminar was very interactive with power-points, varied group activities and question and answer ses-sions. We also held a lucky draw at the end and one of the teachers won a prize of body spray and shampoos. Every teacher also received our story and activity HIV resource book for Primary age children. The teachers were very at-tentive and many commented on how much they had

learned which will enable them to pass on the information to the children in their classes as well as emphasising the importance of knowing their own status.

Pre primary teacher’s HIV seminar. This seminar attracted teachers from 37 different preschools

in a squatter camp. We were able to cover HIV and AIDS in depth and also had a session on HIV/TB and Healthcare tips for preschool teachers. With so many HIV+ children in these pre-schools it is imperative that the care given is based on a sound knowledge of HIV and TB. There was a wide range of activities and interactive drama and we also served tea and biscuits and lunch. All the teachers were active participants and we had a lively question and answer session. We had produced notes for each session and all also received our HIV resource book and also a certificate of attendance. After we had finished the seminar, each crèche received a large box of products: first aid materials, disposable nappies, shampoos and bubble bath, baby bibs, tooth-pastes etc. They were extremely thankful and we hope it goes someway to improving hygiene standards as well as enriching the lives of these teachers through the improvements in their skills base.

HIV programme for schools in Orange Park for Child Protection Day. We were invited by the organisers to conduct an HIV programme for schools in Orange Grove. The 350 plus children from many different schools loved the HIV dramas, the balloon popping (representing destroying myths about HIV) and the puppets covering Stranger Danger and Child abuse. All the teachers received our HIV resource book and a representative from 16 librar-ies in the Alexandra area requested an HIV children’s book for each library, which we were happy to donate.

Right— just a few of the kids at the programme.
