Stewardship starts at HOME!
“The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.”
~ Mark 1:15 ~
As I write this article, it is Wednesday morning before the presidential inauguration. Some of you may be sad or even mad about President Trump leaving office. Others of you are relieved or even glad to have a new President Biden. Either way, our presidents need the prayers of all of us. Pray with me.
Lord Jesus, you are the Savior of the world. Please watch over outgoing President Trump and incoming President Biden. For the good of our nation grant them prudence in all things, justice for all peoples, fortitude at all times, and temperance with all colleagues. Instill in them a commitment to the one, true, and living God of all nations. And bless them with a greater desire for unity and peace. We ask this in your holy name, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Today is also the 2nd weekend of our Stewardship Renewal. You might ask, “What does repentance and believing have to do with stewardship in my family?” Everything. These are two foundational principles of being Christian. Let’s take a peek at what happens in our families. How many of us have had to say “I’m sorry” to a family member? We have had to change how we speak or how we act with each other. Repentance starts at home. If we do not teach our children how to say “I’m sorry” and “I forgive you” there will never be peace and joy in the family. We also need leaders in our families. We call those leaders “parents.” If spouses do not believe in each other, things will go haywire. And if children do not believe in the authority of their parents, there will be chaos. Belief is essential in family life. So too, if our children learn to “repent and believe” in our families, then repenting from sin and believing in God will come much more easily. You may not realize all the ways you practice some principles of stewardship in your families; but believe me, Stewardship starts at HOME! In our Father’s hands,
Fr. Greg Ps. Registered parishioners have received a Stewardship mailing. Please read the materials, fill out the form, and return it to a parish office through the Sunday offering, in person, or by mail. Or if you prefer, you may find it online at www.parishesontheprairie.org.

Year of St. Joseph On December 8, 2020, Pope Francis announced this the YEAR OF ST. JOSEPH. He invites us to learn more about St. Joseph as a way of getting closer to Jesus. I invite you to read the book “Consecration to St. Joseph: the Wonders of our Spiritual Father” with Fr. Greg between February 14 – March 19. Then on March 19, the Solemnity of St. Joseph the Husband of Mary, you are welcome to join in a public Consecration to St. Joseph. Go to St. Joseph! Following Mary the Mother of God, St. Joseph is the greatest of all the saints. Not only does he deserve our respect, but we should lean on him to be our fatherly guardian and intercessor. More importantly, to know St. Joseph is to experience Jesus through the human eyes of his father on earth. Why consecrate to St. Joseph? God the Father entrusted the Blessed Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ his Only Be-gotten Son to the complete care of St. Joseph. We too can entrust ourselves to him. How does this work? Follow these three steps. 1. Get the book! Consecration to St. Joseph: the Wonders of our Spiritual Father is available for
$15 in three places. One, 100 copies are available at our parish offices. Two, Hidden Treasures, the Christian Bookstore in Sauk Centre, sells them. Three, purchase it online or elsewhere. It is assumed you will read the book over the course of 33 days between February 14 – March 19.
2. Watch the videos! Six weekly videos will be posted our website www.parishesontheprairie.org . Watch one a week to enhance your preparations for consecration to St. Joseph. Video 1 will be coming February 7, 2021. The next 5 videos will be posted each Sunday following.
3. Consecrate to St. Joseph! Thursday, March 18 or Friday, March 19, make your public conse-cration to St. Joseph by attending Mass on the Solemnity Feast of St. Joseph, the Husband of Mary. After Mass there will be a 15 minute formal ceremony with a priest as your witness. To make it special you are asked to dress up for the occasion. Masses will be – Thursday: 7:00 pm St. Francis de Sales, Friday: 7:00am Our Lady of the Angels, 8:15am Sts. Peter & Paul, 7:00pm St. Paul’s.
Year end statements are available in the back of church. Please pick yours up to help save on postage.

LIVE THE LITURGY - INSPIRATION FOR THE WEEK
“Repent, and believe in the gospel.” Some type of honest and sincere repentance is necessary for any type of authentic growth and maturity. We have to come to the realization, unless we are happy wallowing in immaturity and superficiality, that the way we have been doing things is not the best or the healthiest. There isn’t a human being alive who hasn’t acted foolishly or erratically at the cost of almost losing a treasured relationship. “Why did I act that way?” is a question we often ponder after some reflection and enlightenment. Faith works the same way. Stumbling through life and bumping up against meaninglessness, a person can begin to see that something significant is missing. They see that there is merit to a relationship with God and an embrace of faith. Before these can take root, sincere sorrow for past wrong doing, missed opportunities, errors in judgment, and short sightedness is necessary. Repentance is necessary. Then having realized that we were walking in darkness, we can rejoice that by God’s grace we now see the light. ©LPi

Prayer for Vocations
Heavenly Father, bless Your church with an abun-dance of holy and zealous priests, deacons, brothers and sisters. Give those You have called to the mar-ried state and those You have chosen to live as sin-
gle persons in the world, the special graces that their lives require. Form us all in the likeness of Your Son so that in Him, with Him, and through
Him we may love You more deeply, and serve You more faithfully, always and everywhere. With
Mary, we ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Hail Mary Full of Grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among woman and blessed is the
fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary Mother of God pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our
death. Amen.
St. Michael Prayer
St. Michael, the Archangel, defend us in bat-tle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl abut the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

Spiritual Adoption Update: Fifth Month-This month marks the halfway point to birth, and the baby
is very active. Sleep habits develop and the mother can feel him or her move and stretch, particularly
when mom is resting. Baby is big and strong enough to kick hard against the outside uterine wall and dent it. Up to now, although he or she swam within his or her watery world, the baby was too small for
the mother to detect because the inside wall of the uterus has no feeling. Babies born at this age have
survived.
Thank you: A heartfelt thank you to those parishes who donated diapers, baby items and baby clothes to Options for Women from the Baby Jesus Showers. We greatly appreciate your generosity to our clients!

10 Sunday Readings
First Reading Jonah 3:1-5, 10
A reading from the first Book of the Prophet Jonah
The word of the LORD came to Jonah, saying: “Set out for the great city of Nineveh, and announce to it the message that I will tell you. So Jonah made ready and went to Nineveh, according to the LORD’S bidding. Now Nineveh was an enormously large city; it took three days to go through it. Jonah began his journey through the city, and had gone but a single day’s walk announcing, “Forty days more and Nineveh shall be destroyed,“ when the people of Nineveh believed God; they proclaimed a fast and all of them, great and small, put on sackcloth. When God saw by their actions how they turned from their evil way, he repented of the evil that he had threat-ened to do to them; he did not carry it out.
”The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 25:4-5, 6-7, 8-9 “Teach me your ways, O Lord.”
Second Reading 1 Corinthians 7:29-31 A reading from the first Letter of Saint Paul to the Corinthians I tell you, brothers and sisters, the time is running out. From now on, let those having wives act as not having them, those weeping as not weeping, those rejoicing as not rejoicing, those buying as not owning, those using the world as not using it fully. For the world in its present form is passing away.
The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.
Gospel Mark 1:14-20 A reading from the holy Gospel according to Mark After John had been arrested, Jesus came to Galilee proclaiming the gospel of God: “This is the time of fulfill-ment. The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.” As he passed by the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting their nets into the sea; they were fishermen. Jesus said to them, “Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Then they abandoned their nets and followed him. He walked along a little farther and saw James, the son of Zebedee and his brother John. They too were in a boat mending their nets. Then he called them. So they left their father Zebedee in the boat along with the hired men and followed him. The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ
