Q1 Q2

A main area of focus for the program in 2018 is implementing quarterly

fundraisers to be executed in Nicaragua, on social media, and in the U.S.

Having our donor base excited about our campaigns will drive

momentum in our program and attract new advocates.  Another goal we have

for 2018 is setting up quarterly leadership retreats for student-athletes and staff.

We started this tradition in December 2017, when we spent a weekend

participating in guided leadership workshops. The impact this has had on our

team leaders has been incredible, and we want to keep building on the

confidence they've gained. Finally, we are working on building our volunteer

hosting capabilities and experience this year. Below you will see specific

we recognize the following donors for contributing on a large scale since the founding of Nica Nadadores in April 2014

Rocky SnawerdtPeter (Rocky) Snawerdt moved to Melbourne, FL in 1996 to join the Electro-Optics and Electronic Warfare activities at Harris Corp.  In 1999, Mr. Snawerdt founded a local high tech company which he ran as the President and CEO until selling the company to one of the top three defense contractors in 2005.  Mr. Snawerdt has also held numerous executive management positions (CEO, CTO, or COO) within technology start-up companies.  Mr. Snawerdt currently holds 16 patents for technical innovations with others currently pending.  Mr. Snawerdt has a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering degree from Tulane University and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Texas – Arlington.  Rocky's son, John swam at the University of Virginia with co-founders Timmy Hayes and Scot Robison.

Hayes FamilySince the start of Nica Nadadores, family of co-founder Timmy Hayes has poured in support on a yearly basis.  Bill and Phyllis Hayes spent their careers as educators and see high impact in the results of the Nica Nadadores scholarship program.  Both Phyllis and Bill have mobilized extended family to gather funds, have run neighborhood fundraisers, and have personally contributed to see the vision of empowering leaders through the sport of swimming succeed.  As no stranger to the pool, Phyllis at age 62 has even challenged some Nica Nadadores swimmers in friendly pool races.  Nica Nadadores is a cause close to the Hayes Family's heart and they pledge to continue giving.

Costas Famiy The Costas Family's generosity on a yearly basis greatly supports our academic efforts - from sponsoring primary school swimmers all the way to funding our university scholars.

Phyllis and Bill make frequent trips to Nicaragua

Charlotte Latin SchoolCharlotte Latin School is responsible for a large, $22K donation thanks to its all-school service project.  The prestigious school has also spent countless hours developing relationships with our swimmers.  They have played host to Nica Nadadores during an exchange trip to the USA, and have twice visited our program in Managua for service projects such as building a water tower at the Chiquilistagua Public School and constructing a shower area at our pool.  Our relationship with Charlotte Latin School stems from co-founder Scot Robison, who is an alumnus. LOOKING INTO THE FUTUREfind out who we hope to be in 1 - 3 years and what our long term, 5 - 10 year plan is

Own our facility - It is no secret  that we need a facility of our own.  For the longevity of our program and to impact youth for generations, we hope to construct a first-rate facility with a tutoring center and recreation area for community use.  Considering property purchase and pool construction we estimate this project will cost in the range of $125K.

2 - 3 YEAR GOALS

Sustain scholarship program - Academics come first and we refuse to take on a capital project without the funds needed to ensure our scholars are funded through their graduation dates.  We need to raise an additional $46,500 to make this happen.

Long-term volunteer sustainability - We aim to have greater support from long-term Program Directors.  Currently, long-term volunteers come to Managua sporadically.  We will take steps in the short-term to have a more constant stream of volunteers committed to a 3-5 month stay.

Partnerships with US team  - We believe our mission is unlike any other in the swimming community.  Nica Nadadores offers leadership and service opportunities for youth in the US.  We hope to spread our cause through impactful partnerships with teams in the US.

Full-time Nicaraguan staff - The time is near when we will be able tap one of our own athletes on the shoulder for more responsibility and leadership.  Within 2 - 3 years, a graduate of our program will be a full- time employee and will continue inspiring younger swimmers.

5 - 10 YEAR PLAN

Use model in the US - Our model works.  Let's explore how we can put it to use in under-served communities in the US.

Staff and culture - Nica Nadadores will be sustainable through a network of Nicaraguan staff with the belief that our culture changes lives.

US college student - We fully expect one of our home-grown swimmers to be studying at a US university - the epitome of empowerment.

High-level swimming - Nica Nadadores is not all about breeding champions in the pool, but we expect to have a potential Olympian in our program.

Grant funding - Currently, our funding comes from a network of family and friends.  Our hope is to stregthen funding through winning grants.

IT'S TIME FOR YOUR INPUTwe are very interested in how you see our organization's progress.  we ask you to take a moment and shoot us an email ([email protected]) to share your opinion on the topics below

Many organizations struggle with balancing frequent "asks" and failing to retain donors.  Do you feel Nica Nadadores does a good job of asking donors for assistance?  Do you feel that we sufficiently explain how donor dollars are used?

We live by the mantra "everything for the kids".  Part of the advantage of keeping our organization small is that we have intimate knowledge of each swimmer in our program.  As we grow, do you have any suggestions on how we can maintain that high impact touch while branching out to more participants?

Would you be willing to host a Nica Nadadores fundraiser in 2018/2019 for the sole purpose of raising funds for a new pool?

We appreciate the active role you play in empowering the next generation of leaders in under-served communities.  We look forward to your comments on how we can take Nica Nadadores to its maximum potential.
