The Distri ct is predominately of the wrd.te race ,,11th a colored population of less than l%~ I n the old community, nationalistic groups such as Hebre1'lS ; Bohemians; German and Pol:i.sh comprised the bulk of' the population, and these groups generally still exist" HOlt;ever, in r ecent years there has been a slight but steady influx of southern whites moving into the District, particularly in the . South a nd East portion of the District" The preponderance of residential buildings in the District are older single family tL."lit dwellings, but there is a number of areas of concentrated popula·ticn, As an example, there is an Election Precinct 1vhich covers 't he area of .1 square block compared with other Election Precincts which cover 4 to 5 square blocks ~

Located Wlthin this jurisdiction there is what amounts to an educational system that 'lflould compare favorably \I'd th any medium sized city. Most of the parochial schools have active groups such as Mother's clubs who are also interested in community and police affairs o There ·is evidence that the local police take an active interest in school-boy patrols and fully cooperate 1,-.n. th the Patrol sponsors of the local schools o

There are also two local newspapers who are very interested and give full coverage to District activity."

It is noted that the~ce are five (5) cemetaries in the District,) Three are quite large, the Bohemian Ne,tional, the Montrose, and St. Lucas o The other two are small nationalistic plots~
