0.2-3% of children receive any services

So many problems

Looking at the big picture

Where do we start

To be or not to be

Slow learners

Intellectual disabilities

Developmental disabilities

Learning disabilities

Autism Mental retardation

Attention Deficit disorders

Mental disabilities

Attention deficit Hyperactive Disorder

TerminologiesHow do we

explain them

Can they be interpreted intoLocal languages

Who identifies what?

Where..........

Physically challenged is a term used to cover all

disabilities .

Or Autism means autosome or auto

parts or auto what ?

Cripple Deaf and Dumb

RetardedSlow leaner

Making information available for

some

Limited for others

And gives higher expectations for

others.

Where........

Everyone is looking for a

speech therapist.

Rather than a team

Or seeing parents as part of the

team.

The focus is Education

Forgetting .....

Health Education

Social welfare Recreation.

That children will become

Adults

Then what ?

Where......

Majority do not receive

Services

Abracadabra

Families who have services

Look for

the "cure".

And continue to shop

Or look for those who tell them what they want to hear.

As professionals

Playing catch up

Services as a breadbasket

Few services

Makes it costly

So many interventions

Eeny, meeny, miny, moe

One size fits all.

• Or does it

Teacch Vs ABAFloor time Vs Lovass

Chelating Vs no immunisation This programme Vs that

program

At present we work in an

unstructured Environment

So I ask againTo be or not to be

Confusion

So what should we

do?

To be or not to be autism

That is stillA question for me

Looking at different ways to help families and their children.

At all levelsMaking the very best Of what is available.

Do we drive autism like a single bus.

How many passengers can we

get into the bus

Leaving out many

Suggestions

Getting bored of the labels.

At the end of the day it is not about just

our children

• Collaboration - partnerships

• Information - that the majority can understand.

• Looking at a broader perspective

• Using what we have to make a better impact.

Catch them young

Mothers as therapistsOr Fathers

Mothers can fill in the gaps to

become therapists

Look at what we can create. When we

collaborate.

Shining bright might bring us to

the attention of the powers that be

That can and will create

Change.

Yes this is my son he is surely loved
