Foster Grandparents are volunteers who have love to give to children with special needs in schools, child care facilities and Head Start Programs.

When you share your love, time and experience, you have the power to help a child who needs you. As a Foster Grandparent, you are a role model, a mentor and a friend.

The volunteers share more than just hugs and happiness. They work with children one-on-one or in small groups helping them improve their physical, mental, social and academic development.

When you volunteer, you are not just helping others - you are helping yourself.

Volunteering leads to new discoveries and new friends. Plus, studies show that volunteering helps you live longer and promotes a positive outlook on life.

If you are age 55 or older and want to share your experience and compassion, then you have what it takes to be a Foster Grandparent volunteer. It’s that simple.

Foster Grandparents can serve up to 40 hours per week. Volunteers may qualify to earn a tax-free, hourly stipend. The stipend does not affect Social Security payments, foodstamps or other benefits. Non-stipend volunteers are eligible for all otherbenefits of the program.
