To All Wushu Friends,
Hong Kong Wushu Union (HKWU) is a member of the International Wushu
Federation (IWUF), Wushu Federation of Asia (WFA), and Sports
Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC). We
have organized the biannual International Taijiquan Invitational Tournament
cum International Taiji Push Hands Championships since 2007. Our events
have been well received internationally.
With the purpose of promoting and cultivating the international exchange of
traditional wushu, HKWU cordially invites you to participate at the
Celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the Establishment of HKWU– The 1
st
International Traditional Wushu Championships that will be held from 17th
to 19th
May, 2013, at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium in Hong Kong. Besides
the Championships, there will be Workshops, Chinese Wushu Duan System
Assessment, and Demonstration as well.
On top of the championships, our event’s location, Hong Kong – Asia’s
World City offers you an exciting opportunity to experience a vibrant living
culture featuring a unique blend of the Eastern and Western cosmopolitan
lifestyle. Its cultural fusion and diversity include shopping, dining, signature
attractions, heritage, sports, and arts and performance.
We warmly welcome all Wushu practitioners and friends from all over the
world not only to take part in this championship, but also to make new
friends and to spend a splendid and fruitful time here.

Bagua, Tongbei, Pigua, Fanzi, Ditang, Shaolin, Chaquan, Yongchun,
Cailifo and other traditional quanshu etc.
6.1.2 Traditional Qixie
Dao, Qiang, Jian, Gun, Dadao, Bian, San Jie Gun and other traditional
Qixie etc.
6.1.3 Taijiquan and Taiji Qixie
a. Competition Routines
Taijiquan (Chen, Yang , Wu, Sun, Wu2 Style, 24 Forms, 32

6.3.2 Female Category:

6.4 Group Event
With reference to individual Quanshu or individual Qixie.
7. Participation Methods :
7.1 Each team will be composed of 1 team leader, 1 coach, 1 doctor and unlimited
number of athletes and observers.
7.2 Each participant can enter at most 2 individual events, 1 dual event, 1 push
hands event and 1 group event.
7.3 Each team may enter 1 dual event which will be composed of 3 persons at
most. Male and female athletes can be mixed.
7.4 No limit to the number of entries in group event irrespective of age and gender.
Number of participants should be no less than 6 per team.
7.5 Two athletes from each team are allowed to enter for each male or female push
hands category.
7.6 If number of team entries for push hands are 10 pairs or above, the
Championships will be implemented in accordance with the rules endorsed by
school.
8. Competition Method
8.1 The competition includes individual events and group events.
8.2 Individual Events --- Includes Men and Women events classified by age
groups.
8.3 Individual Events, Dual Events and Group Events will be adjudicated in
accordance with the “Competition Method of Traditional Wushu Taolu
Competition” endorsed by the Chinese Wushu Association in August 2012.
8.4 If number of single item entries per team for individual events such as
Quanshu, Qixie, Taijiquan, Taiji Qixie are 20 or above, it will be implemented
in accordance with the rules endorsed by school.
8.5 The Push Hands Events will be conducted in accordance with the “Competition
Methods of Taiji Push Hands (Trial)” endorsed by the Chinese Wushu
Association and the “Rules of Taiji Push Hands Competition” endorsed by the
General Administration of Sport of China in 1994.
8.6 If there is only one entry received for a push hands category, the allocation to a
higher weight category will be made for the participant without objection.
8.7 The single knock out system of Taiji push hands will be adopted. If the
competitors abstain from the competition without any reasons, he or she will be
disqualified. All the results will be cancelled.
8.8 Time limit
8.8.1 Traditional Quanshu and Qixie: 50 seconds - 2 minutes. (except
for Taiji related events)
8.8.2 Competition and Traditional Taijiquan: 4-6 minutes.
8.8.3 Competition and Traditional Taiji Qixie: 3-4 minutes.
8.8.4 Dual Events: 50 seconds-2 minutes.

8.8.5 Group Events will be less than 4 minutes. Music should be
accompanied to the routine. (CD shall be brought by the
participating teams.)
8.8.6 Taiji Push Hands: two-minutes round with a one-minute rest in
between.
9. Classification by age : 9.1 Individual Events
Group A: Age under 12
(born after 16 May 2001)
Group B: Age 12-17
(born between 17 May 1996 – 16 May 2001)
Group C: Age 18-39
(born between 17 May 1974 – 16 May 1996)
Group D: Age 40-59
(born between 17 May 1954 – 16 May 1974)
Group E: Age 60 and above
(born before 17 May 1954)
9.2 Push Hands
Group A: Age 16-25
(born between 17 May 1988 – 16 May 1997)
Group B: Age 26-35
(born between 17 May 1978 – 16 May 1988)
Group C: Age 36-50
(born between 17 May 1963 – 16 May 1978)
Group D: Age above 50
(born before 17 May 1963)
9.3 There is no age limit for Dual Events and Group Events.
9.4 If there are less than 5 participants in any age group, they will be grouped into
the previous age group.
10. Placing and Awards
10.1 Individual Events:
The First Prize (20% of the total competitors), Second Prize (30% of the total
competitors) and Third Prize (50% of the total competitors) will be awarded
separately for both genders according to the age groups.
Medals and diplomas will be awarded to the winners of each event.
10.2 Dual Events:
The First prize (20% of the total teams), Second prize (30% of the total teams)
and Third prize (50% of the total teams) will be awarded separately for two or
three competitors.
Medals and diplomas will be awarded to the winners of each event.
10.3 Group Events:
The First prize (20% of the total teams), Second prize (30% of the total teams)
and Third prize (50% of the total teams) will be awarded separately according
to the events.
Trophies and diplomas will be awarded to the winners of each event.
10.4 Push Hands:
The top eight places for both male and female group will be awarded
respectively according to weight category and age groups. If the number of
competitors is less than 9, the last place will not be awarded. If there is only
one competitor, he/she will be conferred Certificate of Participation.
10.5 Outstanding Promotion Award:

Team (Group/School/Coach) from Hong Kong, Mainland China and Overseas
with the largest number of participants or participating entries will be awarded
respectively. Individual Events, Dual Event, Push Hands and Groups Events.
10.6 Traditional Wushu Gold Award:
Team (Group/School/Coach) from Hong Kong, Mainland China and Overseas
with the largest number of participants in any items of Quanshu/Qixie will be
awarded.
10.7 Star of the Stars Award:
Gold, Silver and Bronze Award will be given to the top 3 of Individual Events.
10.8 Rising Star Award:
The youngest male and female athletes will be awarded. (Proof of date of birth
in passport or ID)
10.9 Star of Glory Award:
The eldest male and female athletes will be awarded. (Proof of date of birth in
passport or ID)
Entry form without the name of team is defined as individual entry. No
amendment will be allowed after enrollment.
11. Referee and Arbitration Committee
Invited by the Organizing Committee.
12. Entry and Registration
12.1 Completed Entry Form (A4 format), with photo copy of passport or ID, two
recently taken passport photos (3cm x 3.5cm) posted on the Wavier of
Liabilities and Photo Record Form respectively, Wavier of Liabilities must
reach the Organizing Committee by mail, fax or e-mail no later than March 15,
2013 24:00hrs. (Hong Kong Standard Time).

May 16, 2013. Team Managers’ and coaches’ meeting will be held at 12:00
(Hong Kong Standard Time) in Queen Elizabeth Stadium, Hong Kong.
12.4 The drawing-lots of the Push Hands will be conducted at 12:00 (Hong Kong
Standard Time) in Queen Elizabeth Stadium, Hong Kong.
12.5 If fees are not settled on time, nothing will be arranged.

16. Other Matters
16.1 Participants enter for the Elementary, Intermediate Duan of “Chinese Wushu
Duan System” based on their Championships results which can be used for
assessment of the corresponding Duan.
16.2 Participants will be responsible for their own insurance coverage.
16.3 Participants for push hands registration are required to hand in their health
certificate valid within 30 days before the Championships and life insurance
certificate.
16.4 Overseas competitors should bring along their valid passport and visa (fee is
borne by the delegates)
16.5 To ensure the programme is in good order, participants may apply to the
Championships Committee for changes of events in writing only in case of
special circumstances, but there will be a charge of US$150 per event.
16.6 CD in good quality will be prepared by the participants and it should contain
only one piece of music, with no lyrics or talking. The team will be
responsible for playing the music.
16.7 Push Hands competitors should wear short-sleeved T-shirt, sport pants, soft
sole sport shoes or wushu shoes.
16.8 Push Hands Championships will be carried out on carpet, specification is as
follows:
16.8.1 Designated circle with a diameter of 600cm marked with white
line of 5cm wide (calculated within the line)
16.8.2 The white center mark with a diameter of 50cm is the standing
point at the beginning of the competition.
16.9 Masters’ Workshop (Team Managers, Coaches, Doctors, Athletes and
Observers are free for admission)
Complimentary tickets will be distributed 30 minutes before workshops. Each
person can get one on a first-come first-served basis.
16.10 For a team of over 12 members participating in the Individual Events, 1 Team
Manager and 1 Coach are invited to join the Welcoming Dinner free of
charge. Welcoming Dinner costs US$50 per person, welcome to buy tickets.
16.11 Rules and Regulations, Entry Form, Competition Method of Traditional
Wushu Taolu Competition endorsed by the Chinese Wushu Association in
August 2012, Competition Methods of Taiji Push Hands (Trial) endorsed by
the Chinese Wushu Association, Additional Information of Chinese Wushu
Duan System and South Pacific Hotel Reservation Form can be downloaded

I, (Name) the undersigned, knowingly and without duress, do voluntarily
submit my Entry to The 1st International Traditional Wushu Championships. In consideration of Hong
Kong Wushu Union accepting my application, I declare that I’m physically fit and suitable to take part in
the above championships. I hereby assume all risk of physical and mental injuries, disabilities and losses
which may result from or in connection with my participation in The 1st International Traditional Wushu
Championships. The 1st International Traditional Wushu Championships is organized by Hong Kong
Wushu Union, financially supported by Leisure and the Cultural Services Department, hereafter Hong
Kong Wushu Union collectively refer as “Organizing Committee”, acting for myself, heirs, personal
officers, agents, representatives and assignees, I do hereby release the Organizing Committee, its
officers, agents, representatives, volunteers, and other related members from all claims, actions, suits,
and controversies at law or in equity by reason of any matter, cause or thing whatsoever that I may
sustain as a result of or in connection with my participation in The 1st International Traditional Wushu
Championships. I fully understand that all medical attention or treatment afforded to me by the Hong
Kong Wushu Union its officers, representatives, volunteers, and all other related members will be of the
first aid only, and hereby release the Hong Kong Wushu Union its officers, representatives, volunteers,
and all other related members from any liability for such aid. I understand it is my obligation to obtain
medical coverage.
I agree to abide by and follow the Rules established by the Hong Kong Wushu Union, and I understand
that my protest must be conducted in accordance with the rules of Arbitration.
I agree that my performance, attendance, and participation at The 1st International Traditional Wushu
Championships may be filmed or otherwise recorded or released or telecast live. I consent that the Hong
Kong Wushu Union to use my name, address, voices, poses, pictures and biographical data concerning
full or parts, in any form or language, with or without other material, throughout the world, without
limitation, for television, radio, video, theatrical medium picture, or any other medium by any devices now
known or hereafter devised and I do hereby Waive any compensation in regard thereof as well as any
future rights to the aforementioned.

“Chinese Wushu Duan System – Hong Kong Assessment”
Regulations
The 1st International Traditional Wushu Championships 2013 - “Chinese Wushu Duan
System – Hong Kong Assessment” implemented by the Chinese Wushu Association in
accordance with the “Chinese Wushu Duan System Handbook”.
The assessment is evaluated by the group appointed by the Chinese Wushu Association.
Supplement is as follows: -
1. Eligibility
Participants of The 1st International Traditional Wushu Championships 2013 are
eligible for assessment in the Elementary (1-3 Duan) and Intermediate Duan (4-6 Duan) of
“Chinese Wushu Duan System”.
2. How to apply
2.1. Participants enter for “Chinese Wushu Duan System” should apply any one kind
of Compulsory Routine selected from the tutorial series of the Chinese Wushu
Duan System. For those who apply for 3-6 Duan should enter one Selected
Routine in Individual Event of the competition.
a. Compulsory Routine (Tutorial series of the Chinese Wushu Duan System)
Tutorial series of the Chinese Wushu Duan System endorsed by the Chinese
Wushu Association including Changquan, Shaolinquan, Chen-style Taijiquan,
Yang-style Taijiquan, He-style Taijiquan, Wu2-style Taijiquan, Wu-style
Tajijquan, Sun-style Taijiquan, Xingyiquan, Baguazhang, Tongbiquan,
Chuojiao, Fanziquan, Bajiquan, Tanglangquan, Wuzuquan, Yongchunquan,
Wushu Gongfa, Jianshu, Duangun and Erjiegun.
(Only for Individual Routines Assessment)
b. Selected Routine (Individual Event of the Championships)
2.2. Participants have to declare that they apply for assessment in the “Chinese Wushu
Duan System” when they take part in The 1st International Traditional Wushu
Championships 2013.
2.3. Completed Application Form of “Chinese Wushu Duan System-Hong Kong
Assessment” together with the recent photo (2cm x 2.5cm), ID/ passport copy
should be sent to Hong Kong Wushu Union no later than March 15, 2013. For
upgrading participants, they should present copies of original certificates.
2.4. Fees should be paid by Remittance not later than April 25, 2013. Details is as

3. Assessment Format
3.1. Technical Examination
3.1.1 Compulsory Routines: Arrangement of demonstration based on the
standards specified in tutorial series before assessment of the
corresponding Duan will be announced in due course.
3.1.2 Selected Routines: Participants enter for the 3-6 Duan based on their
Championships results which can be used for assessment of the
corresponding Duan.
3.2. Theoretical Examination
Open-book examination, papers will be given in times of registration and hand in
technical examinations.
4. Judgment of Duan grades
1st Duan: Those whose score in the Compulsory Routine is above 7 as well as
score in Theoretical Examination is above 70.
2nd
Duan: Those whose score in the Compulsory Routines is 7.5 or above and
score in Theoretical Examination is above 70.
3rd
Duan: Those whose scores in the Compulsory Routines and Selected
Routine with the score reach above 15 as well as score in Theoretical
Examination is above 70.
4th Duan: Those whose scores in the Compulsory Routines and Selected
Routine with the score reach above 16 as well as score in Theoretical
Examination is above 75.
5th Duan: Those whose scores in the Compulsory Routines and Selected
Routine with the score reach above 17 as well as score in Theoretical
Examination is above 80.
6th Duan: Those whose scores in the Compulsory Routines and Selected
Routine with the score reach above 18 as well as score in Theoretical
Examination is above 85.

6. Requirements
6.1 No Jump Over
e.g. The existing 3rd
Duan can only apply for four instead of 5 or above.
6.2 Those without Duan’s practitioners who have practised Wushu can apply for 1st
Duan. Applicants have systematically practised wushu for years can apply for
2nd
or 3rd
Duan. For those who have engaged in wushu teaching or wushu
organizing and have made certain wushu achievements which can apply for 4th,
5th or 6
th Duan. Application with copies of supporting document recommended
and signed by wushu master is needed for assessment.
7. Remarks
7.1 All fees are not refundable.
7.2 Those apply for Duan that the competition results do not meet the required
standard. Corresponding Duan will be confirmed.
7.3 There will be a refund for those who do not meet the applied standard.
7.4 All fees cannot be refunded if those who do not accept the assessed Duan.
8. Advanced Duan (7th
– 9th
) can be applied but the Championships results will
not be used for technical assessment.

9. All the regulations and rules is subject to the interpretation of the Chinese
Wushu Association.
