Hands-on training is provided over four 3-day weekends, with significant one on one teaching by the Faculty. The course also provides a didactic and most importantly, an extensively mentored cadaveric experience that is so imperative to performing safe and effective surgical techniques. This course, specifically addresses diagnosis, treatment planning, basic and advanced arthroscopy, open arthroplasty, and alloplastic total joint replacement. After feedback from previous course participants, we have included a didactic session on collaborative non-surgical management form a board certified specialist in orofacial pain and also a session on physical therapy from an physical therapist experienced in TMJ disorders. This Mini Residency cadaver course was established in Baltimore, USA in 2014 by a Faculty of internationally recognized TMJ surgeons who have dedicated their careers to the education of surgeons in TMJ surgery. The course is now held in a state-of-the-art bioskills laboratory in Parsippany, New Jersey. It is the only course of its kind in the world and provides a unique opportunity for those who wish to develop skills and knowledge to incorporate effective full scope TMJ surgery into their clinical practice.
