TERMINOLOGY • Excoriation : any superficial loss of substance, as that produced on the skin by scratching • Chemosis : Swelling around the iris due to edema of the bulbar conjunctiva • Hyphema : an accumulation of blood in the front (anterior) chamber of the eye, usually caused by blunt eye trauma • Mydriasis : Dilation of the pupil of the eye, especially when excessive or prolonged, usually as a result of trauma, a medical disorder, or a drug • Opthalmology : Study of the structure, functions, and diseases of the eye
