Wellbeing
Mrs Bharti Daswani: … describes the journey of the12 Year Old Karuna Daswani who stepped intoTKGS and left it at 16 years of age filled withconfidence, love and the will to beat all odds.Stepped in a girl shy, reserved with some level ofsocialization difficulties. …….her mom was sothrilled to find PARENTLINK and get involved in theschool activities. ….
…..the mother was put at ease by PARENTLINKwho encouraged her to take a step back as this isthe best development opportunity.
Some sat through Chemo, some sat through with thekids, some took them out for meals so that I couldcontinue breathing. This was the TKGS community. The community supported Karuna, no judgementswere made. She got a Study Buddy Masayu.Tampines hub became a camp out site or the TKGScanteen. She never failed to tell me about theencouraging words Mrs Seah would whisper whilewalking pass. She never failed to tell me how herteachers answered her questions no matter howmany times she did ask and no matter howinsignificant they were. She never failed to rememberhow her tutors abandoned her just before prelims asa child who has no hope.
The community didn’t, they asked if they could helpme pack and unpack. They were excited aboutpositive changes in life and about taking charge of it. Iwas taken into A&E for an emergency surgery. Amajor one. This community stood by like pillars atthe hospital and at home. They unpacked my newplace while the kids were at school.
From Karuna: . I thank PARENTLINK which has putthe presence of parents in school to be angels to allof us here. I thank you all for developing thisresilience in me. I love you all. Thank you.
