To: Whom It May Concern From: Teresa L. Kuester RE: Reference Letter Please accept this letter as a formal reference and recommendation for Emily Lawrence. I have had the opportunity to know Emily from childhood through her adult years. I was fortunate to be her Kindergarten teacher, and now and am enjoying her work in the classroom as a colleague. Ms. Lawrence is currently attending Ridgewater College and is pursuing a degree in the field of Education. She has been sharing her time and talents with us as she completes her studies. Ms. Lawrence is currently working with us once a week in the area of mathematics, and various general education activities. When she is working directly with students, she is engaging them in math vocabulary, phonics, and problem solving. Other duties include supervising students at lunch, helping during calendar time, reading with students, running centers, and collaborating with teaching staff. Ms. Lawrence has been a wonderful addition to our current staff. Her ability to step-in to help out at any given situation is evident in her work. Ms. Lawrence possesses a positive attitude with students and staff. This enables her to be trusted and welcomed by those she works with. Students truly look forward to the days that she is scheduled to be at Helen Baker! Staff members have come to know her as a team player, one who can be depended on to assist as needed regarding students’ needs. Ms. Lawrence’s communication skills are positive and uplifting to those she works with. She is encouraging to students, uses reminders in a pleasant and successful way, and always has a smile for those around her. Ms. Lawrence is confident in her work with students. This comes from her success in her studies paired with the interaction with classroom teachers and other staff members at Helen Baker. This confidence enables her to make positive gains academically, and socially with students. I have truly enjoyed the opportunity to work with Ms. Lawrence, and would highly recommend her for a position in an Elementary setting where she can put her skills to positive use.
