THE MAGICAL LAKE TITICACA This tour will take us through the legends of Andean culture. First we visit the ancient ruins of Tiwanaku. Believed to be the birth place of Andean culture. After we make a transfer to Copacabana. Here we can visit the old cathedral and the mythical Lago Titicaca where early inhabitants believed the sun was born and the Incas saw it as the birth place of their civilization. We have time in the quaint little village of Copacabana nestled between 2 hills on the edge of the lake. You will also have an opportunity to explore Isla del Sol, and Isla de al Luna, a place stepped in legend and several Inca ruins. This tour can be used to acclimatize to the high altitude. PROGRAMDay 1: La Paz (3600m) - Tiwanaku (4200m) – Copacabana (3830m)

We leave La Paz early in the morning and drive through the Altiplano (4000m), passing the Cordillera Real on our right. This area is very dry but we will be able to see the campesinos (farmers) herding their llamas. We will make a visit to the ancient ruins of the Tiwanaku. The birth place of Andean culture. After our visit we drive onto Copacabana. At tiquina we need to cross the a small stretch of the lake by barge with the vehicle. From Tiqunia we have a short drive to Copacabana. Once in Copacabana we have time to visit the old Cathedral from the 16th century and other sites in the village.

5 – 6 hours of driving with stops (LD) Hotel 3*

Day 2: Copacabana – Challapamap Isla Del Sol (3820m) – Yumani (3950m)In the morning we take the boat from Copacabana to Challapampa (Isla del Sol). Challapampa is located on the northern end of the island. From here we will start our walk, first we visit the Inca ruins of Chincana. After our visit we will walk to the southern end of the island to the village of Yumani. Along the way we have great views of the lake , mountains from the Cordillera Real and in the far north we can see the Apolobamba mountain range. Later in the afternoon we arrive at the hotel La Estancia where we have a great sun set over the mountains1, 1/2 hours by boat, 3 - 4 hours walking (BLD) Hotel 4*

Day 3: Isla Del Sol - Isla De La Luna (3820m) - Copacabana – La PazFirst thing in the morning we will visit Escalera del Inca and Pilko Kaina. From here we take the boat to Isla de La Luna. We have time to visit some of the ruins on the island. We then head back to Copacabana for some lunch before we heading back to La Paz. Leaving Copacabana we have our last views of the lake and we will drive back to Tiquina, where we again cross the lake, and drive on to La paz.Drop off at Hotel.1 hour by boat, 3 – 4 hours of driving (BL) END of SERVICES
