Ankara-Eskişehir Section of Ankara-Istanbul HSL was inaugurated in 2009. Construction studiesbetween Eskişehir and İstanbul are going on.
Physical progress between Ankara and İstanbul is about 60 % .
Construction Studies started in 2004

20 reciprocal runs daily. 6 thousand pax at weekdays; 8 thousand pax travel at weekends.
5 million 867 thosand pax have been transported between March 13, 2009 and June 22, 2012.

CONNECTIONS TO İSTANBUL, BURSA AND KÜTAHYA WERE SET WITH
CONVENTIONAL TRAINS AND COACHES
Habits of travelling changed after YHT and the cities have become the suburbs of the others.
A 16 % increase was observed in the total travelling demand.
In the distribution of the reasons for travelling; travels for tours, health and touristic aims have
increased from 15 % to 40 % with YHT.

•The passenger share on Ankara-İstanbul, the most intense pas-senger and freight axel in Turkey will increase from 10 % to 78 %.1
• Travel time between Ankara and İstanbul will decrease to approximately 3 hours. 2
• With Marmaray entegration, seamless passenger transportation from Asia to Europe and vice versa will be realized. 3
• Social, economical and cultural interaction between Ankara, Eskişehir and İstanbul will increase.4

• The distance was decreased from 612 km to 309 kms and Travelling time was decreased from 10,5 hours to 1h 4o min. 1
• Konya has become the suburb of Ankara; the capital city. 2
•Economical, social and cultural interaction increased between Ankara, Konya, Eskişehir and İstanbul.

• The number of the domestic tourists has increased in the these cities. Daily tours are organized between the said cities.. 4
• Contribution to the prevention of air pollution (especially byincreasing its market share by getting passengers from private carsand coaches).

• The travelling time between İstanbul and Sivas will be decreasedfrom 21 hours to 5 hours. 4
• The number of the domestic tourists will be increased and thesocio-cultural and economical interaction between the said cities wilgrow.

– Immersed tube tunnel (1,4 km),
– Immersed tube depth is 60 m,

2. The Upgrading of the Commuter Rail (CR1/CR3)
– New high standard triple track line (~ 65 km),
– 37 new stations.
3. Procurement of new Rolling Stocks (CR2)
– 440 new train sets.
