The only ob-gyn handbook offering on-the-go guidance and step-by-step instruction for your ob-gyn rotation or clinical service!
About the Book
Ob-Gyn residents and young practitioners are in need of a handbook that provides information in quick, bite-sized doses, answering the on-the-job treatment and management queries that arise in daily practice. While a number of handbooks exist, they all have a common flaw: they are too big -- usually around 700pp featuring dense text that buries the essential information needed to care for patients.
Residents are left to their own devices, cobbling together a reference support system carrying around hospital guidelines, writing and laminating their own notecards, printing Up-To-Date articles, etc.
Johns Hopkins residents are uniquely lucky as their department has been writing and printing an annual Resident Handbook for all incoming residents for the last 8 years. Each year, Linda Szymanski, the once-resident and now assistant professor who decided to take the project on herself in 2006, updates the handbook with input from the residents. The handbook is a stripped-down, bullets and
tables only, guide to the immediate care of patients in obstetrics and gynecology. It also covers the
subspecialties of gynecologic oncology, reproductive endocrinology and infertility, and urogynecology -all within a lab coat-sized book of less than 300pp.

The perfect study guide to one of the iconic brands in medicine and medical education
About the Book The glory days of Goodman and Gilman's place in the medical education firmament ended about 15
years ago, as medical students took to smaller resources and left the comprehensive texts behind. The G&G book is however still used as a textbook in many places inside the US and outside. In the US, pharmacy schools and graduate pharmacology programs use the book as a primary textbook. Internationally, G&G remains a primary textbook in medical education.
One factor in the decline in the US of G&G's educational position has been its lack--its absolute, complete, total lack of any pedagogical aspect whatsoever. We have tried to rectify this on two occasions, to no avail. The third time is a charm, and this new book will include the sorts of pedagogical aids that students and professors respond well to.
Importantly, this content also will be great for use in various digital platforms, including Access verticals, enhanced eBooks, and Connect/LearnSmart.

Everything you need to know to certify as an EMS Physician!
In September of 2010, the American Board of Emergency Physicians announced that they would begin
certifying emergency physicians in the subspecialty of Emergency Medical Services. EMS Physicians may or may not be out-of-the-hospital, in the ambulance or on the streets. However, they are in
constant communication and available to those who are in all circumstances. By law, every EMS must have a physician available to provide medical direction of the service, in-the-moment consultation, and oversight of EMT training.
EMS and the medical direction of it are global issues, especially as the US-based model of separate emergency departments continues to spread throughout the world.
There are many existing books on EMS for EMTs and EMS managers. However, these are NOT direct competition. They are all aimed at the EMT market and at best a chapter for the EMS Physician. There is also a comprehensive, 4 volume book on EMS in which only part of only one volume covers this content. The entire set is over 2,000 pages and over $250 and as such is not really direct competition either.
With the subspecialty certification and all involved organizations calling for more EMS Physicians, there is a strong market for a well-written and concise textbook detailing current EMS Physician practice that will also serve to prepare them for the upcoming board certification process. This would be a first in the market place.
The book will cover operations and oversight, business practices, special situations, procedures, transportation issues, and more. In addition, as ABEM releases information about what will be on the examination, we will adjust and adapt the table of contents as needed.

Over the past decade, ultrasound has revolutionized clinical care across a range of specialties. First,
portable ultrasound machines became popular in the emergency room for diagnosis of acute conditions by the emergency medicine physician. Next, podiatrists and other clinicians that deal with pain in the foot and ankle brought ultrasound into their offices for both diagnostic and interventional purposes.
And that brings us to this book, the next in the line of McGraw-Hill's state of the art books on ultrasound-guided clinical medicine.
This title will be a multimedia, step-by-step introduction to how to use ultrasound to diagnose and treat conditions of the foot and ankle. The author is at the forefront of ultrasound education and leads the most popular workshop in the US on ultrasound of the foot and ankle. The book will cover both diagnostic and interventional methods. This is a new technology for podiatrists and others (sports
medicine physicians, orthopedic surgeons, pain medicine physicians) who are eager to bring these procedures to their practice because it promises increased revenue and better patient outcomes.

Title: Medicinal Chemistry for Pharmacists
Authors: Adam Renslo DECEMBER 2015 | 9780071794213 | Pre ISBN info: | Cover: Paperback |
Subject: Pharmacy | Pages: 224 | Illustrations: 200 | UK Price: 61.99 | Euro Price: 78.99 | SA$ Price: 85.00 | Imprint: STANDARD USE
Medicinal/Organic Chemistry is taught in the second or third year of pharmacy curriculums. This course covers chemical and pharmacological principles involved in the therapeutic and adverse actions of drugs that act on the somatic and central nervous systems. The goal for the student in this course is to
learn the pharmacological actions of specific drugs.
Organic Chemistry for Pharmacy introduces background information, assuming that students are
coming into the course without prior knowledge. As with the Medical Lange Basic Science texts. We will be working closely with the Higher Ed group and there chemistry art program. Specifically Carey's Organic Chemistry text. The objective is to pick-up as much existing art from Higher Ed as we can, which will keep the art budget costs reasonable. The art program will blow away the competitors and will be a very strong feature. As will the level and pedagogy. We will adopt the similar type pedagogical strategies as we created with the Lange Basic Science texts. The art that will open each chapter will be followed by a Chapter Outline, we will include boxes that will be a brief summary of
difficult concepts and chapters will include with chapter summaries. The Art program and pedagogical learning aides will be modeled after Higher Ed type organic products. This is a big difference between our product and the competitions.
Audience
This text is written specifically for the pharmacy student at the level that's appropriate for the
Organic/Medicinal Pharmacy course. Because of the challenge of teaching this course, to students with a limited background in chemistry, students and courses don't spend time on medicinal pharmacy. The focus is on organic.

accurate diagnosis. Practical Gastrointestinal Pathology walks readers through differential diagnosis, whether it be following a pattern of tissue injury or asking the right questions to meet the clinical goal of a particular biopsy. This unique text will help readers differentiate diseases with overlapping histologic features, and render descriptive diagnoses to assist the clinician in providing the best possible patient care.
Practical Gastrointestinal Pathology covers some of the most frequently encountered clinical queries faced by the pathologist, and includes algorithms in every chapter to lead readers through differential diagnosis. Title: Orthopaedic Surgery Examination and Board Review
Authors: Manny Sethi, William Obremskey DECEMBER 2015 | 9780071832809 | Cover: PB| Subject: Orthopedics | Pages: 496 | Illustrations: 50| UK Price: 65.99| Euro Price: 82.99| SA$ Price: 90.00| Imprint: STANDARD USE
This title will be an addition to our McGraw-Hill Specialty Board Review series, which has been very
successful. Orthopaedic Surgery is a large specialty (about the same size as general surgery) and by a wide margin the largest specialty not currently covered in the series. Board review in Orthopaedic Surgery is dominated by the Ortho Surgery society and a book, Miller's Review of Orthopaedics, published by Elsevier, ISBN 1437720242. Compared to other specialties of the same size, the market is not as crowded, and thus is a good opportunity for us.
The specific format for this title will be modeled after Graber / Family Practice Examination and Board Review, which has been one of the most successful titles in the Specialty Board Review series. Each chapter will consist of cases, followed by Q&A related to each case. We will follow the published exam blueprints for orthopaedic surgery to ensure coverage of topics that mirrors the actual exam.
