7 TIPS FOR BRILLIANT REMOTE PRESENTATIONS

If you depended on in-person speaking for your income or sales pipeline, the past few months must have been pretty frustrating for you. Like me, you probably lost most of your bookings. The ones that remained became virtual. And that raised a whole bunch of questions.

How do I engage people when I can’t look them in the eye? How do I keep my energy up without applause and eye contact? How should I structure my presentations for digital delivery? How do I use the technology? Will I need to become familiar with multiple platforms? What do I do if the technology fails?

It’s natural to have these questions. (And I love helping people answer them in my training sessions.)

If you want to learn how to embrace the opportunities of the digital environment, structure your content to keep an audience’s attention and deliver it in the best way, we probably need to talk.

But in the meantime, here are some tips that I hope you’ll find useful.

I’m an author, educator and public speaker. Or at least I was until the pandemic erased every speaking and teaching gig from my calendar.

I then immersed myself in the world of remote speaking and training. I’ve run online sessions before - but this was different. I took every opportunity to deliver remote training and talks. And experimented with new approaches.

LinkedIn Learning then asked me to write, film and deliver a course on how to run virtual workshops. It’s been popular for six months now. I’m currently preparing three new courses for them on remote presenting.

I started running training sessions for big global companies, charities, government organisations and professional speakers.

And I was honoured when Course Conductor made me the first ever person to receive their Trusted Virtual Trainer accreditation.

I believe we’ll be needing these skills for years to come. So we might as well get good at them before we become irrelevant.
