Proofreading V Editing

• Proofreading is the careful reading and re-reading of a (yet to be finally-released) document to detect errors.

• Editing is the arranging, revising and preparing material for final production. The object of editing is to remove any factual, grammatical and typographical errors: Clarification of obscure passages and elimination of parts not suitable to audience, proper sequencing to achieve a smooth narrative

Tip #1 Sweep

• Do one error set at a time – eg punctuation, grammar, spelling, tense consistency

• One sentence at a time
