    As it is your robot, you canget it to do anything youlike. The author has attacheda cup holder to his robot.The author has used areadymade basewhich had abuilt in gearbox that housesthewheels. This is similar tothe base of a toy crane.Other parts include a HPHD2300webcam,waterdancer speakerswith 6WattAmp, an ultrasonic rangefinder distancemeasuringsensor (HCSR04), batterycases that can hold 6 AAbatteries (the authorsprototype requires 27Volts),LED lights (heres yourchance to use those Diwali/Christmas lights again!). Youcan substitute the HCSR04for an easily available andcheaper distancemeasuringsensor.

    Themotors run at 9Vwhereas the Pi runs at 5V. Avoltage converter is neededto regulate the voltage to 5V.The Raspberry Pi is sped upby 100MHz. twomotorcontrollers are used. Theauthor has also used aheadphone jack , amicroUSB power input to the Piand the composite video jackon the Pi.

    The neck of the robot ismadewith a smart phone holder. The author has replaced the speakerswith lights (torch lights). The speakersmaymake the neckheavier. A smallmotorwill not be able tomove the neck from side to side. The other neck can bemade using the engine of asmall remote controlled car.

    The start of graphic user interface is coded in Python.With the help of the Raspberry Pi, you can control themotor controllerwhich is connected to a switch. The author has provided the links so that your Pi can be up to date.Most of the coding is donein Python, but you can use Turbo C aswell. The code includesmovement keys, diagnostics, controls, toggling the lights, etc. Thereally cool part is that it can create and post a new tweet and take images aswell.

    You can build your own robotwith added updates like speech recognition or you can evenmake it fully automated. Or even atemperature sensing robotwhichwill set off an alarm if there is a fire. So use your imagination and start building your very ownTinkTrank!
