We are so excited to be able to host this race at Lake Tinaroo (directions below), the 2 nd triathlon in our Freshwater series. We also would like to thank you for your patience, yet again, in the late registration for this triathlon. We were not able to find a Race Director when it was put out to Membership via email, this is the reason we had to cancel the ANZAC Day Relay For Life Triathlon, however, we did not want to cancel this important event so one of the Committee members took on the role. We are still looking for volunteer Race Directors for all future events. We sincerely hope you all have a great race, lots of fun, support your fellow competitors, respect and thank all the volunteers who have given up their time to allow you to race and we hope you achieve every single one of your racing goals. Officials will be checking for such things as: handlebar plugs, tyres in reasonable condition, stripped cables. The ends of the handlebars must be plugged – please ensure no bare metal. The bike should have 2 functional brakes. Please note that the bike check-in is a safety precaution to monitor basic soundness of your bike and is essentially a visual check on obvious defects. It is not a certification of roadworthiness by TQ Technical Officials or that your bike meets any specific minimum criteria or a guarantee it will not break down during the race. It is your sole responsibility to ensure the mechanical and safe operation of your bike prior to and during the race. A mechanic from our great sponsor Pump n Pedals will be on hand if you need assistance. Immediately prior to bike check-in TA Technical Officials will carry out a visual inspection of your helmet. Your helmet, therefore, must be correctly fastened on your head when you present your bike for check in. This visual inspection, as with the bike inspection, is not a certification of function or safety effectiveness.

RACE BRIEFING A short briefing will be held before each race. However, competitors should be familiar with the course and the rules of Triathlon Some general info on the race below: Swim Course

• Lake edge swim start only, competitors will be called in race categories then taken down to the beach for the start

• Swim caps are compulsory – athletes can wear their own or be provided by the club

• You must follow the swim buoys precisely. Any short cuts will mean disqualification.

• Competitors will be advised of wetsuit ruling at check-in – it will depend on the water temperature on the day so bring your wetsuit with you just in case.

• Follow all directions of water safety officials. Cycle Course

• You must put your helmet on before you touch your bike and your helmet should be taken off only after you have re-racked your bike after the bike leg.

• NO DRAFTING – draft busters will be on the course and penalty boxes will be in use.

o The draft distance is 7-metres long and 3 metres wide between bikes o A pass MUST be completed once the 7 x 3-metre distance is entered i.e.

athletes may not drop back out of the draft distance without passing o There is a 3 metre wide draft zone around each bike so side-by-side

riding, unless passing is blocking • During the Bike leg, Drafting, Blocking, Illegal Pass, Helmet and Littering

infringements incur a time penalty to be served at the Penalty Box as advised by a Technical Official. Failure to stop at the Penalty Box or not stop on the lap the infringement is issued may result in a DQ.

• Avoid an ILLEGAL PASS INFRINGEMENT by always passing other athletes on the right; Avoid a LITTERING INFRINGEMENT by not throwing away ANYTHING; Avoid a HELMET INFRINGEMENT by always having your chin strap securely fastened when with your bike.

• This is a multi-lap course, extreme care must be taken at all times. Take special care on mount and dismount areas.

• Upper torso must be covered at all times. • Roads are open to traffic and all road rules must be obeyed at all times.

Road works are finally complete along Tinaroo Falls Dam Road, sections of roads are un-marked – under no circumstances are you to cross the middle of the road. Follow police and traffic control directions at all times.

Run Course

• The run course is different for each race group. Please familiarise yourself with the course on arrival – this will also be covered carefully in the Race Brief.

• Use aid stations as required. • WARNING: IF YOU DO NOT USE AID STATIONS AND CONTINUE TO RUN

WHEN DEHYDRATED AND OVERHEATED, IT CAN BE DANGEROUS TO YOUR HEALTH.

• When you finish your race be sure to hand in your RACE CHIP immediately
