TIMOTHY THOMAS SENTENCED TO 75 YEARS IN DOUBLE ATTEMPTED MURDER

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. Timothy Herschel Thomas Jr., 24, was sentenced Tuesday afternoon to 75 years in prison, with a 63 year minimum mandatory, for his conviction of two counts of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, one count of Discharging a Firearm from a Vehicle, and one count of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. In October 2014, Thomas was involved in a dispute with the two victims at the Exxon Gas Station on 103rd Street. After the argument, Thomas got into his vehicle and began to pull away. When the victims, who were also brothers, started to leave the gas station, Thomas turned his car around and pulled up next to the drivers side of the victims car. The Defendant fired several shots into the victims car, striking one of them in the leg. He then fled the scene. Thomas later turned himself in to police after a warrant was issued for his arrest. Thomas has a prior felony conviction from 2011 for Burglary to a Dwelling. Assistant State Attorneys Peter Overstreet and Cameron French prosecuted this case.
