TIME MACHINEA NEW ONE-DAY FAMILY FESTIVAL
CELEBRATING STOWMARKET’S PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE.
This festival has been produced by the Stowmarket Cultural Group, bringing together cultural organisations across the town to collaborate and celebrate Stowmarket’s culture and history.
Walkabout event and shows Look out for the Time Travelling Machine piloted by the (usually confused) Victorian gadgeteer professor Keith Robinson. The professor has landed in Stowmarket and needs some help navigating his way around and discovering more about this fascinating town!

An audience with James Campbell Stowmarket Library
James Campbell, children’s author and comedian, will be delivering an afternoon of fun and laughter all around the theme of Time Travel.

Taste the Past Home Close, Museum of East Anglian Life
Celebrating the heritage of fruit in East Anglia, showcasing their new dialect heritage project with the University of Leeds, and exciting plans to be the National Museum of Food. Come and share your local dialect with us and help shape the future of the museum.

Stowmarket Bells - past, present and future Stowmarket Library
Discover Stowmarket Bells and bell ringing in the town, meet the ringers and find out about how the bells have reflected the life of the town and its people over 500 years. Learn about hopes and plans for the future, supported by a Lottery funded project which will give Stowmarket a new peal of 10 bells in 2022. Pick up a family discovery pack and find out how you could have a go at this very special activity.

The War Just Outside Ipswich The Regal Cinema
Behind the scenes documentary film about the trenches filming facility in Akenham, Suffolk. The film talks to the location’s creators about how the system came about and the filming that has taken place there over the past 17 years.

Dreams for the future of the town Fox Yard Studio
A showcase of artwork and stories from the public in the gallery downstairs, with workshops on the first floor where people can come and contribute to a larger tapestry of writings, paintings and fabric – all stitched together to form a collective artwork.

Stitching Stowe Stowmarket Library Garden
Much like the thread that binds the pages of a book, there is a thread that runs through our community, binding those who live here to the history, the story, of ‘the place’. Come and see the launch of the new Stowmarket Library Garden, stitching together the stories of the town and infusing them into paintings and other artwork.

Secrets of Suffolk & Stowmarket’s Past John Peel Centre
Join Stowmarket Local History Group on a tongue in cheek journey into ghostly sightings, fairies and historical facts. Come and learn about some of the grisly myths, tales and true stories of Suffolk and Stowmarket. Murder most foul, Devil Hounds and unusual events. Starting at the John Peel Centre, the gruesome crew will talk and then take you on a guided walk, highlighting some known and not so well-known facts about the town.
