Early Life
•Tim Burton described his
childhood self as quirky, self-absorbed and
highly imaginative.
Working whit Disney!
•After high school, he won a Disney scholarship to attend the
California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, California.

Vincent
•His first Short, with a
duration of 5.52min. This was
based in a short poem
written by Burton.

Frankenweenie
• It´s a parody of (and homage to) the 1931
film Frankenstein based
on Mary Shelley's book of the same
name.

Pee-wee´s Big Adventure
•Paul Reubens saw Frankenweenie,
he chose Burton to direct the
cinematic spin-off of his popular
character Pee-wee Herman

•Burton, a fan of the eccentric musical group Oingo Boingo, asked songwriter
Danny Elfman to provide the music for the
film.
Beetlejuice
•A supernatural comedy horror
about a young couple forced to cope with life after death, as well as a family of pretentious yuppies
invading their treasured New England home.

Batman
•Burton claimed that “The Killing Joke” was a major
influence on his film adaptation of Batman.

Edward Scissorhands
•Edward looked human, but was left
with scissors in the place of hands due to the untimely
death of his creator.

Batman Returns

complex interaction between light and darkness, and of being caught between two irreconcilable worlds.

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street•Adaptation of Stephen Sondheim and
Hugh Wheeler's 1979 musical thriller. It re-tells the Victorian melodramatic tale of Sweeney Todd, an English barber who murders his customers with a straight razor and, with the help of his accomplice, Mrs. Lovett, turns their remains into
meat pies.
