TILT,A MAJORINNOVATIONIN THE FIELDOF MOBILITYA bike is l ike an amplifier… an amplifier of human

strength; using the same amount of energy as when

walking, a cyclist travels 4 times fur ther and 4 times

faster. So what

could be more

efficient and

e c o n o m i c a l

than a bike

you can take ever ywhere , including on public

transpor t that never seems to arr ive exactly where

you want it to.

With the increasing development of inter-modal

transpor t, a folding bike is the perfect solution…

but not just any folding bike! Obser ving and listening

to users around the wor ld uncovers a number of

issues: Quick folding/unfolding, easy transpor tation,

seamless switch from one form of transpor t to

another, keeping clean… all of these elements are

impor tant in the eyes of consumers.

This is exactly how the crazy idea of transforming

a cyclist into a pedestr ian in one second took root

in the collective mind of the B’TWIN design team.. .

All the brand’s knowledge and passion was poured

into creating this revolutionar y bike and making

getting around faster and more fun. TILT, the bike that folds and unfolds in one second, was born…

A BIKE IS LIKE AN AMPLIFIER OF HUMAN STRENGTH

Page 3: TILT, THE ONE SECOND BIKE

The Tilt is a proud flag bearer for

B’TWIN, the Oxylane network’s cycl ing

brand, which aims to make cycl ing

more accessible through high quality, innovative products , for

al l uses and levels. The brand aims to

actively par ticipate in the sustainable development of cycl ing, par ticular ly

in urban areas.

At B’TWIN, innovation is at the hear t

of design. At the B’TWIN vi l lage , a site

dedicated entirely to cycl ing and the

brand HQ, ever ything is put in place

to br ing our designer s into permanent

contact with cycl ists . Ideas for new

products come from obser ving,

l istening to and talking to user s of al l

kinds.

The 150 brand employees - engineer s,

designer s and product manager s - can

dream up, modelise and prototype the

products of the future on site .

Products are then subjected to

str ingent lab tests before being b’twin products are on sale in Decathlon stores ,at the b’twin vi l lage, on btwin.com and decathlon.fr.

TILT,PURE B’TWIN

tr ial led in real- l i fe conditions and

industr ial ised.

And the name of the brand is no

coincidence . The or iginal B’TWIN (pr.

‘between’) bike came out in 2000 and

was a real revolution in the cycling

market. Half way ‘between’ a tour ing

bike and an MTB, it challenged the

established codes and promised the

versati l ity of town and countr y r iding, on

the same bike , with a frame adapted to both men and women .

There’s nothing the B’TWIN team

enjoys more than getting off the

beaten track and providing new

solutions that make cycl ing even more

enjoyable .

SMALL IS BEAUTIFUL…The Tilt is a break from convention with daring design, which strikes a balance between technical prowess and customer demands. Its t ight l ines and fun framework

are inspired by 1980s pinball machines.

B’TWIN wanted to reinvent the folding bike genre creating a resoundingly

modern, good-looking bike that would make its r ider s even more mobile .

TILTTHE 1 SEC BIKE

The B’TWIN Tilt is a truly versatile urban bike that r ides as smoothly

as its “larger” counterpar ts, and yet “shr inks” in less t ime than it takes to

explain how.

The Tilt range has a unique , ultra-fast folding system based on frame and

stem hinges known as “Pop Up” (patented). And that’s not the only

innovation! The TILT also has incredibly simple adjustment systems such as

the “EasyClamp” (patented), “Light’ In”  l ights built in to the frame, and

“Cleanr ide” dir t-free transmission thanks to the exclusive frame shape

and a dr ive belt on the Tilt 7 and 9. Final ly, with “Fold ‘N’ Roll” geometr y,

you only need to carr y it when absolutely necessar y, as, when folded, you

can roll it around l ike a suitcase .

Page 5: TILT, THE ONE SECOND BIKE

THE TILTINNOVATIONSTHE TILT INTRODUCES SEVERAL INNOVATIVE AND REVOLUTIONARY COMPONENTS…

The Pop-Up system, with patented semi-automatic hinges, enables you to

fold/unfold your Tilt in the space of a second! A tr igger underneath the saddle

basical ly unlocks the frame hinge . Only a few seconds are required to fold it

completely . The stem folds down in one movement and blocks itself automa-

tical ly. Never miss your train again!

A REVOLUTIONARY FOLDING SYSTEM

On folding bikes, your saddle height changes ever y time you fold and unfold

your bike . Easyclamp is a patented adjustment system that enables you to set

your seat post to the correct posit ion in one movement, as the name

suggests, easi ly. The laser markings on the front of the seat post enable you

to get the right height in the blink of an eye.

Of cour se , there is a blocking system in place to prevent people steal ing your

saddle and the rear l ight can be screwed on to the clamp.

ADJUSTING YOUR SADDLE HAS NEVER BEEN SO EASY

The transmission, and par ticular ly the chain, is the dir t iest par t of a bike and

also requires regular maintenance . On the Tilt , the transmission runs on the

inside of the frame to l imit its contact with your clothes.

On the Tilt 7 and 9, an oil-free carbon dr ive belt replaces the chain. It’s

cleaner than a standard chain, not to mention lighter and longer lasting.

Underground user s wil l be most grateful !

ARRIVE AT THE OFFICE AS CLEANAS WHEN YOU LEFT HOME

In towns, the theft of bike par ts such as cl ip-on l ights is a real bl ight. That’s

why the Tilt was designed with a headlamp screwed in to the frame. Turn it

on by pressing the switch - easy. The rear-l ight is also screwed in to the

Easyclamp seat clamp. The LEDs last a ver y long time .

The Tilt 9 also has a Shimano hub-integrated dynamo that provides the

energy for the front and rear l ights.

The clever “Steady l ight” system uses a condenser to keep the rear light on

for 4 minutes when stationary so you’ll always remain visible at night,

including at traffic l ights.

BUILT-IN LIGHTS

The folding system is designed to be able to rol l the Ti lt easi ly when folded.

You only need to carr y it therefore when absolutely necessar y such as when

going up stair s . The geometr y is specifical ly calculated to ensure that the 2

wheels are perfectly paral lel when the bike is folded providing excel lent

stabi l ity. In folded posit ion, the frame hinge automatical ly locks to prevent it

from unfolding unexpectedly.

The Tilt 7 has a 2-way automatic hub. This SRAM system, exclusive to

BTWIN, enables you to change gear whilst stationar y and rol l the bike

backwards in folded posit ion without the crank arms turning and blocking

against the front wheel .

AN EXCLUSIVE FOLDING SYSTEM SO YOU CAN ROLL IT LIKE A SUITCASE

For a more comfor table r ide , the Tilt frame has been designed to fi lter and absorb

par t of the vibrations coming from the back wheel.

The specific design of the chain stays and seat stays enables the frame to bend

natural ly on the ver tical axis absorbing par t of the vibrations generated. This tube

shape , entit led Virtual Damper, bends 22.5% more than a standard round tube .

SHOCK ABSORPTION FOR INCREASED COMFORT

Aluminium frame and forks.

HANDY HINTSBUILT IN BIKE STANDThe exclusive and patented design of the Tilt frame enables the bike to remain

upr ight when folded without a tradit ional stand mechanism; a built- in bike stand if

you prefer. You can also sit on your folded bike to take an urgent cal l i f necessar y.

This exclusive design also protects you from the transmission so you won’t get

dir ty as you r ide .

WHY CARRY WHEN YOU CAN ROLL WITH IT…The Tilt is designed to be rolled when folded; the saddle doubles as a handle to

guide it with. This means you don’t have to carr y it when you can’t unfold it… in

public transpor t for example . Incidental ly, the saddle fits nicely in the hand and is

reinforced down the sides to resist abrasion.

If you find your self in a situation where you have no choice but to carr y it , the

frame shape wil l always mean it ’s perfectly balanced and ergonomic .
