Tip:Large format tiles

are perfect for contemporary wet

rooms and make smaller rooms look

much larger and more spacious.

Enhance your bathrooms decor... There are a number of different ways to lay your tiles, and the pattern you choose can have a big impact on the overall look and feel of your finished room. In a classic half bond or brick bond pattern the edge of one tile is in line with the centre of the tiles above and below. This is particularly suited to rectangular tiles such as Metro, but is not recommended for tiles over 500mm in length.

How do I choose? For larger tiles we recommend fixing a 1/3 bond, where the edge of one tile is one third of the way along the tile on the row below. Or stack bond so that the edges of all the tiles are in line with the tiles above and below. For a more trend-led look, consider tiling in a herringbone pattern, which looks great with small format tiles or wood effect planks.

LayoutsTiles come in an array of shapes and sizes and there are no hard and fast rules about what to choose, it’s really down to your own personal preference.

It’s a common misconception that in a small bathroom you should use small tiles, when actually using larger tiles in a small room can help to make the space look bigger, especially in a light colour or gloss finish, and having fewer grout lines gives a more seamless look.

Certain styles of tile lend themselves to certain sizes. Some of our tile collections include more than one size in the same design, such as 300x600mm, 600x600mm and mosaics can be combined within the same room to create a fully co-ordinated look. For example, using mixed mosaics to create a feature behind the basin or in the shower area.

Wall or floor tiles? It is the tile material and type of glaze rather than the shape or size of a tile that dictates whether it can be used on walls, floors or both. Some of our tiles are suitable for walls and shouldn’t be used on floors, although any tile that is suitable for use on the floor can also be used on walls, giving you plenty of options to choose from.
