My Self Presentation

Who am I?

I am a 24 year old female

Originally from North Carolina

I am currently employed with Quest Diagnostics as a phlebotomist.

Recently switched from active duty to reserve status in the United States Navy

I am also a full time student at Germanna along side working full time.

My Interests…

I love to learn , I have always felt that you can never know too much, so if an opportunity presents itself where I can leave a situation knowing more than when I entered it, I am all for it.

I love computers and CAD software.

I enjoy drawing and painting as well.

I enjoy spending time with my love ones when time permits it.

My Interest contin…

I love listening to music as well.

Viewing scenic environments and traveling also are things that interest me.

Plans for the future..

I plan to continue my education and become a heart surgeon.

I still have a lot of schooling to take care of but I am determined to succeed and fulfill my dreams.

I want to have my own practice and save as many lives as possible.

Year in the IT program..

This is my first official IT program I have taken.

I am an Operation Specialist in the Navy as well so I understand some things dealing with the field.

My IT Interest..

I have found IT to be a very interesting field.

I learned how to build a computer at the age of 7 and have loved computers ever since.

I also love AutoCAD, I took Drafting for 3 years so I became very familiar with CAD and love it.

My job in the Navy deals with more of the security part of IT.

I also work with video/ audio streaming and archiving at church which is fun.

The Internet

I am pretty familiar with the web

I am confident in surfing it to obtain whatever it is I am looking for as well as editing web pages and creating custom layout designs for different web sites to best fit its purpose.

Team work

I am all for team work .

I feel as if we can help each other to achieve a goal then its “ ONE TEAM, ONE FIGHT!”

I find team work to be helpful especially with presentations , because some people love to present.

Technical skills

I do not have much experience in this field.

I guess you could call me a beginner.

I know how to trouble shoot small things when dealing with computers and most of it I gained knowledge from having someone else troubleshoot me through the problem I was having at the time.

Software/ Hardware

I know a few things about hardware such as the installing cooling fans, motherboards, disc drives and such.

Software is not as much. I know different animation software. As well as Office software.

I also would like to learn more about different softwares, JAVA scripts, and more of the technical side of computers.

Presentation preparation.

I try to find different ways to obtain and keep peoples attention during a presentation

I find that it can become a difficult task at time tho.

Presentation delivery

Wow, now when it comes to delivery, I must be honest, I am not a huge fan of this part.

I am ok with doing the project but presenting in front of people, I would rather skip, but when it is necessary I will suck it up and present to the best of my ability.

Presentation tools

When it comes to using computers to present something, I don’t know much about it.

I know how to use power point, a projector and CS4 to animate some of the presentation but that is about it.

I am in the process of trying to learn how to edit movies and so that audio is consistent with the mouth movements after dividing into chapters for a DVD.

Presentation tools contin..

I am familiar with using a different tools in the production process as far as using a video switcher while filming and streaming live across the internet and recording to a DVD for further copying at the same time.

I am also familiar with CV software that allows you to add text, pictures, and commercials to a live streaming video to enhance a presentation.

Learning techniques

I have that when it comes to computers I am more of a hands on type learner.

I find it much easier to understand if I am able to try it myself.

I also seem to retain it much better that way unlike with other things or subjects, so I am hoping that this class will help with everything being online work anyway.

Wrapping it up…

I know a little bit about online presentations, archiving, web design/creation and the various software/ hardware that assist with the process.

I hope to gain more knowledge by taking this course and I am really looking forward to it.
