Every three years the Capital Area Chapter of Pennsylvania Music Teachers
Association presents the “Piano Extravaganza” a unique opportunity for piano
students to experience the audition process and ensemble performance. This
exciting event is held at the Harrisburg Forum , home of the Harrisburg Symphony
Orchestra. The Forum is a beautiful venue where your child will be the performer
in a piano orchestra. 16 Pianos will be brought in from Philadelphia to the Forum
stage for this amazing event. Students who are studying, at least, Level 2 will be
encouraged to audition for the Piano Extravaganza.
Please ask your teacher if you are eligible to participate in the Piano

SUMMER LESSONS
Private lessons are offered during the Summer months. Summer lessons
offer a consistency which eliminates the need for the student to spend the first
several weeks of the Fall Term on review.
The fees for Summer lessons are in addition to your contracted 38-week term and
are based upon the hourly rate.
SUMMER MUSIC CAMPS
Tierney Music Studio Summer Camp
During the month of June students will have the opportunity to learn through
musical games, singing and playing the piano, stories, videos and interactive fun.
Camp will run from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. A snack will be provided at mid-
morning. At the end of the week, the students will play in an informal recital with
emphasis on a special piece which will have been their focus over the week. A
picnic celebration will follow. Space is limited to 8 students. The fee is $250.00.
Camp Dates: Monday, June 16 through Friday, June 20, 2014. Please see Sign-up

education, and, they're lots of fun!

ASSESSMENT
Students are encouraged to participate in the PMTA festival and the NATS
competition both held annually at local colleges. These festivals are wonderful
opportunities for students to share their music and for them to gain assessment by
impartial, qualified judges who are also music teachers. The students will be
evaluated on development of technical ability, interpretation of style and
knowledge of theory. Students are especially encouraged to participate in the
annual PMTA Festival which will be held at Elizabethtown College on February
28, 2015. Each year during this festival, students can participate in workshops
which are designed to stimulate their interest and enhance their understanding of
the many facets of music. Also, during this festival, a professional artist will
appear as a feature for all those who participate and for their families and guests.
"IF YOU GET ONE GOOD LINE A DAY, YOU'RE DOING WELL." Billy Roche, Irish Playwright
TERMINATION OF LESSONS
A 30-day written notice is required for termination of lessons. We
respectfully request that termination be made at the end of the school year.
If this is not possible, please make termination at the end of a month. Please make
full payment for the termination month by the 7th of the month.
* Absences during the termination month will be rescheduled or forfeited.
Please note: Termination in the middle of the school year cannot be honored
simply because the student has tired of piano/voice lessons. With any subject for
study, the student is bound to have moments when he/she will need a break. Please
let the school vacations be those times. Daily practice encourages slow and steady
growth over the school year.
11
ABSENCES/ MAKE-UP LESSONS:
Make-up lessons are reserved for those who have serious illness or due to
severe weather conditions and emergencies. If you are aware of an upcoming date
that prevents your child from attending his/her lesson, please inform your teacher
as soon as possible and not later than 48 hours before your scheduled appointment.
If a call is not received, the impression will be taken that you have decided to
forfeit the lesson and that you will make payment for that missed lesson.
Lessons that are missed and that you wish to make up must be made up within 2
weeks of the missed lesson. Please make a note that it is required that the lesson
be forfeited if it is not made up within this 2-week period. Also, there will be a
limit of 2 make-up lessons per quarter unless your teacher is contacted and the
situation warrants another make-up lesson. Thank you for your attention and
understanding in this important matter. Please keep a record of any date that your
child will potentially miss before each month or term and please inform me as soon
as possible so that your child will receive the full contracted 38-lesson term.
