Gibbous – the phases where the moon is more than half light

Waxing essentially means "growing" light

Waning means "shrinking“ light

Rhyme time – Waxing moons are growing bright, waning

• Is kept in orbit by Earth’s gravity

• Is visible ONLY because it reflects sunlight – DOES NOT generate its own light!

• No atmosphere = impacted by many meteoroids

• As Earth revolves around the Sun (365 ¼ days), the Moon revolves around the Earth (28 days)

• The phase of the moon you see depends on how much of the sunlit side of the moon is facing Earth

Step 2 Cut out the circle by cutting along the dotted lines. CUT OUT ALL OF THE TRIANGLE!
