• Hose made pryor to July 1987 will be taken out of service

• Hose that is frozen will be service tested again• Color’d Hoses• All test gauges to have been calibrated in the

last 12 months• MARK COUPLINGS FOR SLIPPAGE

HOSE TESTING

Hose Test Appliances

• Check condition of hose test machine.• Make sure caps are on fire hose outlet

connection• Pressure up to 10% higher than service test

needed. 330• Hold pressure for 3 minutes with pump off.• TEST OF MACHINE DONE

Time to test hose

• Apply nozzle to no more than 300 ft of hose.• Charge hose to 45 psi, make sure to discharge

air from line. Check all couplings tighten with spanner.

• Raise pressure no more than 15psi per sec. until desired pressure is reached.

• Allow 1 minute of stabilization per 100ft• Hold service test pressure for 3 minutes

• If you walk the layout stay 15 ft from the left side of the hose. The left side is defined as the side that is left when facing the free end

• Never stand in front of the free end of the hose , the right, and no less than 15 ft on the left side. Never straddle the hose.

• N• Connect no more than 300 ft hose to valve.• Hose test valve end shall be secured with a

belt tie in or rope hose tool at a point 10 to 15 in from the coupling

• Apply nozzle to no more than 300 ft of hose.• Charge hose to 45 psi, make sure to discharge

air from line. Check all couplings tighten with spanner.

• Raise pressure no more than 15psi per sec. until desired pressure is reached.

• Allow 1 minute of stabilization per 100ft• Hold service test pressure for 3 minutes

OTHER HOSE

• BOOSTER HOSE• 110 percent of maximum working pressure or• normal highest pressure used in the system

• SUCTION HOSE• Attached to suction source• Free end sealed with disk and connected to accurate

vacuum measuring instrument.• A 22 in. mercury vaccum shall be developed.• Hold for 10 mins.
