Preface

TIBCO Foresight™ Instream® is available on multiple operating systems. Please see TIB_Instream_readme.txt and System_requirements.pdf for specifics.

Instream® validates transactions according to industry standards, organizational guidelines, and specific business rules. It splits documents according to criteria that you choose, and generates response documents.

Installing Instream on Windows

This section explains how to migrate from a previous release to this release.

Notes

▪ For System Requirements, please see System_Requirements.pdf.

▪ If you have a previous version of Instream installed, you can install directly over it.

Steps

1. Stop all Instream applications.

2. For 32-bit platforms, execute HIPAAinstream.EXE

For 64-bit platforms, execute HIPAAinstream64bit.EXE

3. Choose I Accept for the License Agreement. If you do not accept, the installation will cancel.

4. Click Next on the Welcome panel.

5. On the Get Registration Information panel, type the Name and Company information for the Instream owner, and then click Next.

6. On the Choose Destination Location panel:

Click Next if you want to accept the default location

or

Click Browse and either type the name of a path or navigate to an existing directory. Click OK and then Next.

7. Follow the prompts to finish the installation.


Installing Instream on Unix or Linux

Notes

▪ For System Requirements, please see System_Requirements.pdf.

▪ You must have permission to create a directory to install HVInStream.

▪ Sun Users must have the Link command path in your Login Profile. The installation

will check for this path, and if not found will display the following message and stop the

installation:

"Unable to find the unlink command in the login PATH. Please add the path for the unlink command to your login PATH. Then rerun the configure again."

Installation Steps

1. Create the installation directory name, where name is your high-level Instream directory:

#mkdir name

Example - to install in foresight/instream:

mddir foresight cd foresight mkdir instream

cd instream

2. Copy HVInStreamxxn.n.n.tar.gz to Instream's directory. xx is the operating system and n.n.n is the Instream version.

Example: HVInStreamAIX7.17.0.tar.gz is Instream 7.17.0 for AIX

Some browsers may rename this file to HVInStreamxxn.n.n.tar.tar. Note the tar.tar at the end. If this happens, change the last tar to gz.

3. Unpack HVInStreamxxn.n.n.tar.gz:

gunzip HVInStreamxxn.n.n.tar.gz

tar -xvf HVInStreamxxn.n.n.tar

Example:

gunzip HVInStreamAIX7.17.0.tar.gz

tar -xvf HVInStreamAIX7.17.0.tar


You should now see these directories and files:

4. Configure HVInStream

#./configure

Environment Variable FSINSTREAMINI

HVInStream needs Environment variables FSINSTREAMINI and LIBPATH to be set to

Instream's bin directory. For assistance, contact your system administrator.

Testing

HVInStream

Go to Instream's Scripts directory and run a script to test your installation. Results will be in

Instream's output directory.

User Guidelines

If you are using the GuideMerge function of Validator to create your own guidelines, use

ASCII when your guideline is transferred via FTP to the HVInStream/Database directory

on your Unix system.

Version Information

Version information is available, by:


▪ Running Version.sh in the Scripts directory,

or

▪ Using the -version command-line parameter with Instream validation, DocSplitter, or

Response Generator.

Environment Variables and Registries

Windows

The Instream Bin directory is found by checking, in order:

▪ Environment variable FSINSTREAMINI

▪ The registry under key SOFTWARE | Foresight | Instream |MAINDIR

32-Bit Registry Settings

Run C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64\regedit.exe from the command prompt.


64-Bit Registry Settings

Run C:\WINDOWS\regedit.exe from the command prompt.

How to set FSINSTREAMINI

This is not set by the installation and is only needed if you have multiple Instreams installed.

In that case, you can set FSINSTREAMINI to an Instream Bin directory that is different

than the one in the registry.

Example

Start | Control Panel | System | Advanced system settings | Environment Variables … | New


UNIX

Environment variable FSINSTREAMINI is required and must point to Instream’s bin

directory.

Example

export FSINSTREAMINI=/HV_testing/bin


Uninstalling Instream

Windows

To uninstall Instream, execute UNWISE.EXE in Instream’s high-level directory. You must have retained Install.log.

Unix and Linux

To uninstall from Unix or Linux, delete the files and directories. There is no uninstall program.


TIBCO Foresight™ Transaction Insight® Customers

Transaction Insight® customers who update Instream need to run one of these scripts

against the TI database to get their new error definitions into TI:

▪ TI_ErrorUpdate_For_Instream_v e r s i o n _MSSQL.sql

▪ TI_ErrorUpdate_For_Instream_v e r s i o n _ORACLE.sql

These are installed in Instream’s Scripts\TI directory.

Please review Synchronizing-TI_and_Instream.pdf for other steps that may be necessary.

Separate Code Table Updates

You can install the most recent code updates separately from the product installation. When

possible, TIBCO Foresight will make code table updates available between new versions of

Instream. This will make code table updates available without upgrading Instream.

Go to http://download.foresight.tibco.com, click Support, and log in.

Code tables with version 7.3 and later require the actual Instream 7.3 or later program. You

can check your Instream version and the code table version by executing the Version file in

Instream’s Scripts directory.

Note: TIBCO Foresight may need to change the code table database format in the future.

At that point, you will need to upgrade to the newest version of Instream.

HIPAACodeTableChanges.txt includes changes made to the Tables database. Please see

Updating Business Rules

FSBRD.dat is a file that now ships with Instream that updates business rules within EDISIM

after you install a new version of Instream:


Copy it to EDISIM’s Bin directory and you should then see the new rules in EDISIM’s rule

editor.
