POINT / LINE / PLANE
The main concept that used in ‘Point / Line / Plane’ Models is techtonics: continuity. The aspect of continuity is basically based on how point & line & plane can be found in different angle of view. Also the light effect which casted by translucent layers are considered in this project.
FRAME & INFILL
The main concept that used in ‘Frame & Infill’ is inspired by Jpanese architecture: when the object is inverted, the structure can still support itself. The models mainly focus on this concept, and also attempt to increase accessability by infilliling the frame. The concept used in ‘Point / Line / Plane’ also can be found in this project.
Mass
The concpet is about a floating megalith, which can be achieved by using material representation. Its surface gives an impression of mass, but the structure itself is hollowed, so that the erection can be supported by two structural columns. The design is based on one of the models in ‘Point/Line/Plane’ project, and concept of mass and the contest between void & mass are added through the development.
Secret & Pavilion
The shape of the pavilions are formed by individual elements. The vegetation hide the buildings as a secret.
SITE ANALYSIS
There is a highway beyond the north part of the Herring island, pollution and noise would be created. The main dock, the only access to the island locates in the south part of the Herring island. Several historical sculptures can be found in the island, and none of the sculptures is situated in the south part of the island where human activities are held. Therefore, the site is decided to locate at south part of the island.
CONCEPTACLE
The design of conceptacle attempts to present different concept: continuity, materialality, and secret hiding.
