NCEA students who have a permanent change of address after 1 December 2016, need to contact NZQA on 0800 697 296, before 31 December, in order to

update their details, to ensure their booklets get sent to the correct address. Please also notify the school of your address change.

This term, Year 8 had a few sessions of Positive Education, a worldwide

movement that dates back to 1998, founded by Dr Martin Seligman. Research was conducted to uncover how people can have ‘happy and fulfilling lives.’ Positive Education is growing hugely in New Zealand schools and the inaugural NZ conference takes place in Christchurch in 2017. Year 8 discovered their own top Strengths and discussed how they can be visible in life and learning. They created a poster (Colour, Symbol, Image) based upon a top strength and will identify Strengths in others. Other aspects of Positive Education include keeping a Gratitude Diary and how to be resilient. I hope to work with others to continue the benefits of PosEd upon my return from Leave. Gillian Towle—Facilitator

YEAR 10 CAMP, HANMER SPRINGS Last week, Year 10 enjoyed an action packed week on camp. All the activities were well organized by Activity Hanmer, whose staff impressed with their professional approach to risk management and safety practices, and their ability to relate to and bring out the best in our students. Highlights during the week included the positive way in which all camp groups ‘gelled’ and interacted, seeing students’ confidence develop during the activities, and of course, the camp concert!
